Apparently I'm an old man these days so I've bought a V Strom.

Mainly because I only really ride to and from work and two up, and I want to take the Mrs to the Alps in the summer.

08 bike, 14k. I've sprayed the panniers with plasti-dip and added luggage loops so I can carry more shit.

Bit of a difference from the zx9r...

Looks a nice bike that. How does it compare to the zx9?

Comfy, good manners, suited to road speeds.

Basically the 9r was going to lose me my license. My own fault really, but unless you're going 90 everywhere it doesn't really come together. It's not as though I'm doing trackdays anymore so I didn't see the sense in keeping it.

This bike serves a different purpose.

How are you finding the engine?

Bit of a change going from an il4 screamer to a dawdler twin.

It's nice, and I guess much more relevant to real world riding.

Are they the same 650 V twin as found in the SV? I had an SV and quite liked the engine in it.

Surprisingly willing to rev. I've had a few twins, a carbed SV, 900ss, and a Versys. It's sort of the point to dawdle, I'm not nearly as frustrated with traffic on this in comparison to the ninja.

I did convert the 9 to high bars, all this resulted in was 90mph wheelies, so probably not the best move Laughing

Hmmm... Not sure what to think of this. I think maybe you'll get bored of it or you'll have another bike as a toy to go with it? It's definitely not what I'd choose (I'm not suited to anything tall as you know!) but it's nice to see that you appreciate it's strengths.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Also, main criteria was pillion and tour/luggage friendly, with a £2k ish budget.

I also considered a Versys, or a 1200 bandit or something. Exciting wasn't really on the list, because road riding isn't very exciting.
