So it looks like my HG is on it's way out, slight oil weep from around the head
Currently not too severe, maybe a few drops over 120+ miles. Being a low-tune aircooled single goes some way to not being the end of the world.
How bad is this in terms of keeping using the bike in the meantime before I can put a new HG on? I will obviously minimise its use, but need it at least one day a week for work, as train isn't viable that day.
I don't have a garage or under-cover workspace in Bristol, so fixing it is going to be weather dependent too
I gather plenty of old bikes weeped oil from the head and that way more or less normal. |

When you say head, do you mean between the head and the engine or from under the camshaft/s cover/s? The camshaft cover seal is a cheap and quick job, you don't even have to drain the engine.
Using the bike? Now, if it's aircooled = no worries whatsoever. If it's liquid cooled engine, check the coolant for oil, if there is none = good to go.
*Yes, I don't know what HG is. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ
