So it looks like my HG is on it's way out, slight oil weep from around the head Sad

Currently not too severe, maybe a few drops over 120+ miles. Being a low-tune aircooled single goes some way to not being the end of the world.

How bad is this in terms of keeping using the bike in the meantime before I can put a new HG on? I will obviously minimise its use, but need it at least one day a week for work, as train isn't viable that day.

I don't have a garage or under-cover workspace in Bristol, so fixing it is going to be weather dependent too Confused

I gather plenty of old bikes weeped oil from the head and that way more or less normal.

When you say head, do you mean between the head and the engine or from under the camshaft/s cover/s? The camshaft cover seal is a cheap and quick job, you don't even have to drain the engine.

Using the bike? Now, if it's aircooled = no worries whatsoever. If it's liquid cooled engine, check the coolant for oil, if there is none = good to go.

*Yes, I don't know what HG is.

Yeah, it is the actual head gasket between the cylinder and the cylinder head interface.

No actual rocker cover gasket on this one, its just some silicon goop to make the seal.

Have you re-torqued the head? They can come loose.
