tl;dr version - 3rd party covers all drivers and all victims, except for someone who knew they were in or on a nicked vehicle.

Despite this, we can still be done for driving without insurance if arry decides to dick us over on some trivial detail, even though the policy will always pay out.

Marvellous.

Insurance sounds like a massive liability, why would anyone bother with it?
