Hi,

I passed my full test a few weeks ago, having ridden a 400 Kawasaki for the past couple of years. I am obviously looking to upgrade to something bigger and more fun, ready for the summer.

I have seen a SV650 ex-demo at CMW Motorcycles in Chichester which has really taken my fancy. The guys/gals on the phone seem nice and I am going to view it this weekend.

Has anyone had any experience with CMW?

Ex-demo seems like a good call from a dealer. No chance of them screwing up the first registration, and they won't have to spin a pack of lies about its history and condition.

Check it over, test ride, monies, enjoy. I might even be tempted to just ride it home then go back in and ask if they want the money, rather than putting up with the usual "Yeah, yeah, we need a few days to shuffle some pointless papers around before you can have it," tosh.

My Triumph is an ex demo. They started the warranty from when I bought it and gave it a full service before I picked it up even though it had only done just over 800 miles. It had already had the 600 mile service.

Down side is it has probably been ragged from day 1 (if you can rag a Trophy Laughing ) but some say that's the bes way to run in a bike.

If you get a good enough deal, I'd have no hesitation going for an ex demo.

Paddy, Paddy says that Smile I'm weird in that I sort of trust the manufacturers opinion on the subject.

Never dealt with them, but live nearby and have visited a few times. Nice showroom, friendly people. They've been there for years too, so probably a safe bet.

Don't expect to get a test ride though - I'm pretty sure they require licence for at least 3 years to test ride, plus a £1,000 deposit.

I can't be the only one to not make sense of this, how exactly have you been riding your 400 for years even though you've only passed your test a few weeks?

Depending on what 400 that could be a downgrade or sidegrade at best.

35kW A2 was introduced 3 years ago, and doesn't automagically upgrade.

It's just clicked, i'd still call an A2 license a 'full license'.

I would too, if given a binary choice between provisional and full.

eBike and the insurance ombudsman would not.
