5 - 6 k miles pa.. a weekly figure is meaningless as I don`t commute.. and I don`t ride on the salt caked roads of winter..

Round trip to work is 105 miles, although often I go halfway and get the train. So an average over the year of , ahem, 2k?

Between 8k and 12k a year, but that's maybe as little as 60 miles a week in the winter if I don't have a lot on.

Roughly 35 miles per day on the commute, so 175 miles per week, in all weather. If it is nice when I am coming home, I might take the scenic route (extra 10 miles). When I get chance at the weekend, I go out for a bit of a ride too.

This weekend is time for a full on clean, oil change and new chain and sprockets. Then a bit of a ride just to make sure that I did the chain and sprockets right Wink

Around 200 just for commuting and general pootling to the shops. Possibly double that when the weathers any good and I get out on the weekend.

I commuting on the bike all week, 250 miles. If playing out - add an unknown number to that.

If doing some commuting in the car because I can choose, less than 250 miles on the bike.

144 (night shifts 4 nights) or 180 ( day shifts 5 days)
Ride year round unless it's like today very windy and lashing it down, or it's snowing.
If there is snow on street I get the train or mother picks me up as she also works in Preston.

I'd say during winter about 50 miles per week.

Work is either 4 or 5 miles away. (4 if I ride through the rough council estate) (5 if I go the nice way).

In Summer, it depends, still the 50 on the commute, perhaps a ride out is 200 miles. If it's June/July evenings then perhaps quite a bit more.

Mountain biking has taken its toll on my motorcycling though.

Throughout the whole year I do around 10,000-12,000 miles. So that's a rough average of 900 miles per month, 225 miles per week. My total commute is only 4 miles a day 5 days a week/20 miles a week.

I rode about 500 km/week last year until I got a girlfriend with a car. Much better driving the distance down to the hometown when it rains, although it feels great in better weather.

Just got the bike back on the road, predicting I'll ride 150 km/week until it gets nicer for weekend rides.

I do about 6k a year. I don't commute and I don't ride for 4 months or so when the weather is shocking.

I have to ask, does anyone almost solely do commuting only on a bike, and save the car for weekend drives or taking out on a nice day etc?

I'd personally rather ruin a cheap scooter or commuter machine, than a classic or retro car for commuting purposes.

What are these "car" things of which you speak? Confused

I probably would if I had a car. No parking at work (except for bikes) was the main reason for getting a motorbike.
