I got just a new pair of summer gloves:

https://www.bykebitz.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1024x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/l/i/lindstrands-comet-glove.jpg%20

They are very nice, high quality materials, breathable yet waterproof.

But the cuffs are too big to go inside the sleeve, and not big enough to go over the sleeve, gauntlet style. They get sort of awkwardly squashed up into the sleeve.

wat do?

Inside the sleeves.

Prevents any water running down the sleeve and into the glove.

But if the cuff of the gloves is a little oversized, then a half-decent "seal" is created between the glove and the sleeve which minimises water ingress.

Very Happy

Outside in the cold and dry but wear short cuff summers in warm and dry.

Inside in the wet, not that I do that very often.

In winter / rain, outside. Stops rain and wind blasting up going up your arm in cold weather.

If water is rolling back down your arm into your gloves then you aren't going fast enough Wink

In summer short gloves because you want the wind going up your arm holes too keep you cooler.

Those style with the bigger cuff gauntlet would be worn over the jacket. Just do whatever is comfortable.

Buy a summer jacket with thinner sleeves.

Or

Aside, let's hope this doesn't become common knowledge.

If you put them inside the cuff, water will run up your sleeve. If you put them outside the cuff, water will run down your glove.

If you want them waterproof, you need to do both. Your gloves need two cuffs.

The Germans understand this, I'm rocking BMW atlantis gloves. They are waterproof. The best ones I ever had were Hein Gericke Master 4s though.

Try it both ways in the cold and the rain and then (when you've dried out your jacket and got over your cold) it'll be sleeves inside.

Well, I kinda have short gloves, so I guess I pull my hoody down over them. Driving gloves are such a pain.

Or buy a jacket where the cuff fits, wear them inside and laugh at those wearing them outside and those messing around with dual cuff gloves.

Thumbs Up HTH

No. Neither of these things have ever happened. Not in 50000 miles with many gloves and jackets. Most of you dont even ride in the rain so its irrelevant. The glove should be over the jacket.

As Bovine Proctologist, you must have great experience of shit running up your sleeve.

No. Because I wear the gloves over the sleeve.

But I imagine if I was being deluged with shit from above, this would lead to my glove filling up.

Fwiw I've always worn mine inside the jacket's sleeves. I try to avoid too much riding in the rain for the simple reason that I don't enjoy it - yet I still do a reasonable amount. I don't get rain blown up my sleeves - however my gloves aren't hugely waterproof, so I do eventually get wet hands.

I always think it looks a bit daft having them outside. Bit like Dath Maul/VaderBut, each to their own.

I only get short gloves now as the longer ones dont fit inside my jackets and doesn't feel comfortable outside.

In the sense that you need to keep adjusting to over-the-sleeve for fast traffic and under-the-sleeve for slow commuting, sure.
