It sounds pretty sweet, to be honest. If I am to trust the clocks, it has done 20k miles. Had no battery, desperately needs an oil change (been sitting in a garage since 2013), needs brake pads on the rear. Acceleration is a bit sticky, prolly the cables, but overall, in pretty sweet condition.

It is no Daytona, but still a pretty nice bike, IMO. Was not aware of the liners issue, will take a compression test when I get around to changing the spark plugs. The issue I was aware of was the dreaded gearbox problem, but this seems to work just fine, even with a very old oil.

Glad u like it, mate! Still got the small niggles to sort out (like cables, service, brake pads etc), but it's nothing I wasn't expecting for such an old bike. I think I need to fiddle a bit with the suspension settings as it seems a bit understeer-y for my liking atm. Overall, I really like the bike.

Nice bike.
It was on my list when I was looking for my Daytona, couldn't really find any that hadn't been anodised to hell though Rolling Eyes

guy I used to work with was a worse liar than Aldridge Prior and was constantly getting decent jobs until they discovered the truth and sacked him, amongst all the bullshit he did buy a Daytona 600 or 650 brand new and due to long stints on the dole was never able to change, the thing had done 65k last I saw and still going strong, personally I would keep to post 2006 bikes as after the fire they decided to stick to 3 cylinder bikes and 2 cylinder for the cruisers and the fuel injection and cdi / electrics are all Japanese since

I agree with the post '06 thing, however, they're nowhere near the money of an '03-'05. The Yammie will do just fine for the moment. I still have the Daytona itch I need to scratch but it won't happen very soon, I reckon.
