Hi all

Managed to drop my VFR the other day and now have some grazing on the clutch casing and fairing 😔.

Anyone know what would be the best way to repair? I was going to rub down with different grades of wet and dry, and then look to paint but it doesn't appear to be the original colour paint on the casing so I don't know how to go about matching it up?

Failing that, is there anyone in the Exeter area that does this kind of work? Cheers!

R&G do clutch cover/protectors for some bikes. Not the cheapest option but would cover it (if they do them for your VFR).

Mine has almost identical battle scars. I dremelled it smooth and painted the 'fins' with a black/grey Hammerite. It's not perfect but you have to be looking at it bloody close to tell.

I was hoping my newly acquired dremel may come in useful for this! What attachment did you use?

Cheers, have ordered one to add to my list of Dremel accessories.

Any recommendations on what paint to use? It looks like the paint on there isn't the original colour, perhaps gunmetal grey but it's got a bit of sparkle to it

Every chance it's been repainted. They have a tendancy to go furry as standard.

You'll need etch primer if spraying from bare metal.

They come up nice with a coat of plastikote BBQ paint. But it's only in black.

It's fairly soft until it's been heat cured so you'd either want to do them in the oven or take care first few runs out.

Had a quote from a body shop (out of curiosity) to repair casing and fairing scuffs, £265 +vat ouch!

A new casing is only £200!
