Hi all, totally new to bikes (only had mine just over a month), but done a fair bit of home mechanics on cars over the years, so i know the usual things to check when taking cars for an MOT, but not bikes

I am no stranger to working on bikes having already replaced the swingarm, head gasket, fork gaiters, brake calliper rebuild on my Honda CG 125, but other than checking bulbs, is there anything else i should be checking to avoid a silly fail

Cheers in advance Wink

Not particularly. My MOTs are 15 minutes of chatting (to satisfy Friend Computer) and under 5 minutes checking the stuff that actually matters.

Manual is here.

Do check your electrics, because those are pass/fail items. Horn, indicators, pilot light, dipped and full beam, and the brake light - check that your rear brake pedal illuminates the brake light after a sensible amount of travel.

Fork gaiters mean no fail on the fork seals Thumbs Up.

The biggest risk/cost is probably the rear brake drum pulsing. Have you checked for that?

Oh, throw a bucket of water at it: I get no end of ear bending about the state of mine. Whistle

Yeah, a mate recommended i fit fork gaiters for that exact reason

As far as I'm aware the rear brake is pretty smooth, no pulsing that i can detect, but as it's the only bike i have ever ridden I've got no point if reference

And yes, all electric work, and rear brake light has already been adjusted as i had to remove most stuff when we had to cut through the swingarm bolt to remove the seized swingarm

Well it passed, a few advisories, but nothing major

Not bad for a £500 CG 125 with 67,000 miles on the clock

Should see me out for the foreseeable while i save up for my Direct Access
