I need to spend a bit of time and effort sorting out the wiring of the V-Strom; some of the ancillaries aren't working (or at least not correctly); courtesy of the previous owner, so I've bought an auxillary fusebox to do it properly.

I realise I'm also going to need a bit more cable, though. I can see there's plenty available in short lengths off ebay (https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Wires-Electrical-Cabling/174027/i.html?_sop=12) - but I really don't know what thickness/grade I need. Can someone advise please? I'll be using it for satnav, a ciggie lighter/USB socket, daytime running lights, and possibly in the future, heated grips (which is presumably the biggest current eater). Would be easier I suppose to get one grade of cable for all; any reason not to?.

You need to check any high wattage items but I normally just buy trailerboard cable - cheap and lots of colours either leave it in the outer or strip it according to your needs. Add a roll of self amalgamating tape and some bullet connectors (I prefer the solder ones with the separate insulation) and off you go. Worth documenting what you do for future reference

You beat me to it stinkwheel - I dealt with them years ago when I designed and made up a complete wiring loom for a replica Model A I rebuilt. These guys are really helpful and their range of products excellent. Their catalogue even lists cables with typical uses etc.
