Forum closure.

Myfreeforums is winding down which means one of my other forums will disappear.
I know nothing on the subject tbh so I'd appreciate some recommendations on how they might carry on somewhere else.
I've posted a link to the bcf host site but there's been no reply so far.

Forums are dead easy to set up. All you need is a domain name, a hosting account and some forum software. Xenforo and vBulletin are good paid choices and in terms of free forums you're looking at SMF, phpBB, myBB, vanilla and a few others. Personally I'd go for Xenforo.

In terms of hosting I find Vidahost to be reliable and reasonably priced.

Busy forums are expensive to run so perhaps they don't want to pay the money.

Hostinger if you need it hosted.

Install mysql and get phpbb on there if its just basic.

Easy peasy.

If it's a small scale thing Proboards are pretty good for free.

It would seem myfreeforums are trying to go down the crowd funding route to stay alive although the target of £10k in just 28 days seems like a tall order to me.
