Which MT09? The newest variant with LED lights and gopping number plate holder or the older style like mine?
You'll be at the filling station every day with MT09, not because it's thirsty, just has a piddling little tank. May
be a consideration if you are out on the road with students. They are still a hoot to ride though. Loads more midrange
oomph than your last bike. Cool sound too.If you haven't ridden one before it's worth a try at least.
Let your arse decide. Talking of which.... Firm seat but yamaha gel upgrade seat available. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Because, with recent experience of many friends owning either bike, you see to either get the best bike ever or a complete lemon. With the way my luck goes I would get the lemon.
Mate had the 1090 Speed, put it in for a service, they condemned it, £1500 later and 3 pages of parts/labour the thing worked. Couple of friends bought one each, his and hers matching pair, his he still has, hers lasted 2 months before full refund. Electrical issues, fuelling issues, including a breakdown half way out of the dealers after a repair job half across a road and had to be walked to safety.
Of course I have a few mates who have the best bike ever. But I have the worst luck ever. ____________________ illuminateTHEmind wrote: I am just more evolved than most of you guys... this allows me to pick of things quickly which would have normally taken the common man years to master

Shame that's put you off. I'm sure you would have got a decent one! ____________________ 2004 SV650S >>> 2009 Street Triple R |

I couldn't potter behind students on a Street Triple. It'd be, "right, I'm off, do your ride and let me know how you got on", before disappearing into the distance in a screaming blur ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Mine was pretty good that way, on our first NSL he hadn't even finished telling me to 'Now use the pow... oh I see'.
I was already gone.
He was happy I wasn't speed phobic. Apparently he gets a lot of those who bimble on NSL when they really
should be making better progress. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

First I've heard of this. Anyone on here had such bad experiences as the OP's mates? I don't recall reading about anything, and quite a few here have them. But I find it really isn't a bike to sit patiently around on.
I'm surprised the OP found the FZ1 to have heavy steering, another thing I've not heard before from owners. But is an FZ8 really that much different? But a litre bike does seem to me to bit a bit of overkill for the job. I'd be inclined to agree with Matt B, and get something cheap but reliable - CB500? - for training use, and something nicer for personal enjoyment. On the other hand, none of the bikes the OP mentions seem like bad choices to me, but I can't speak from personal experience of any of them. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
