Noticed something a little strange happening today and im not sure if its the bike or me doing it.

When taking off from a stopped position and quickly going up gears in about 3rd gear i looked down and the rev gauge was in the red hitting max revs. But the bike was not screaming like you would expect. Then i go up to 4th and it does not drop out of the red and even changing into 5th gear it stays in the red. The power is also much more when this happens. When changing from 3rd to 4th and the bike is in the red it jolts forward and pulls like hell (in a good way).

Have i just finally found the sweet spot at changing gears? is this a mechanical problem or just me? Yes im a learner Rolling Eyes

Strange thing is when its hitting max revs in the red and i change gear it does not drop down revs they stay in the red zone and the bike just accelerates quicker even if i go up 2 gears at a time. This does not happen most the time think its happened twice in 40 miles of riding today.

Motorcycle is a Yamaha YZF R125

Best way to explain it in a few words: Its like the engine out of know where gets a shot of Nitrous. Because i always change at 6 to 8k revs usually. But somehow it ends up at max revs and they don't drop until i go down gears.

Knackered rev counter?

You weren't doing 150 again were you. We still need that proof

Whatever happened to the proof you were going to post?

You are not getting more power, it sounds like the clutch is slipping. This is usually because the clutch needs adjusting or the plates need replacing. What history have you, or the previous owners documented regarding the clutch? Look up the service schedule for the clutch adjustment etc, do that and then report back

Am I right in thinking the clutch should outlast the engine in an R125? Laughing
