I'm currently enjoying my throttle (aka "croc") lock:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301674231377
Because why?
All the security of a disc lock (i.e. mostly visual, will resist a tooled up pikey for as long as it takes the angle grinder to spin up), but no mucking around with a grubby disc, or any possibility of forgetting that it's on.
It's a more convenient form of security theatre.
Bring it, BCF. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Just a point, be careful where you attach it. I found out the hard way, although you're probably smarter than me!

I'm currently using an abus xs67, either as my portable disk lock or as a chain lock. It appears quite well built and the key is reasonably complex
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/191858927239
I have a mammoth padlock with a long shrouded shackle intended as a disk lock, but it's only got one key now and it's a right arse to fit on the bandit, was easier to fit when I had a skinny 19" wheel up front, but the plastic shrouding isn't much of a security feature.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/MAMMOTH-THATCHAM-11MM-SHACKLE-REMINDER/dp/B002RAZ1GY
Still better than an oxford mini-D shackle. Used briefly for my 125 then mostly for securing garden equipment. Lock siezed and bent a key, so i broke it open with some cheap 18" breaker bars ____________________ Bandit. does. everything. |

Xena XX15 for me (https://www.xenasecurity.com/xx15-disc-lock-alarm/)
All I can say is that it's been 100% effective for me in that I've never had my bike nicked! The lock's never been attacked though - so anybody's guess whether that means it's completely put off the pikeys, or that I've been lucky and it wouldn't have been nicked even if I hadn't used a lock (I don't think V-Stroms are particularly attractive to thieves, and it's garaged at night and not often left parked in especially risky places...) ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

Xena alarmed disclock here as well. Can't remember which model, bought for the ER6 but also fits the Spacker.
I can't speak for it's durability, as I don't ride out and leave my bike unattended so it's only been used a few times
while i nip into a pub or use the loo somewhere or whatever but it's at least 3 years old and still sounds good and loud
so the battery has stood the test of time at least. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Xena XXsomething alarmed disc lock for me too.
Big chunky looking thing with stickers all over it, and the alarm is extremely loud.
It is probably over-sensitive (can't use it with a cover on when its windy) but thats probably preferable to under-sensitive.
Batteries ran out last week, after probably 2 or 3 years intermittent use. Still works as a lock but i will be replacing the batteries.
Repeated because its important: Get a disclock reminder cable. ____________________ Bikers make great organ donors - add your name to the register

Thanks for your suggestions, I did look for the XENA X2 but i couldn't find it in stock anywhere. So I ended up buying an ABUS 8077 alarmed disc lock for £100.
Some might say its overkill for a Honda StepThru but it'll give me peace of mind.
