|
|
Hey guys,
I own a CBR 125r 2004 and need some advice identifing an abnormal engine noise. See video:
https://youtu.be/o88h0Dn9eDY
Basically an intermitant clacking noise, I predict it's the valve timings but thought i might get a second opinion before i start work on it.
Heres a little history on the bike that might help with the diagnosis:
It's been happening for about 6 months and getting slowly more pronounced. Seems to happen hot or cold engine. Started a few weeks after I used it for a courier job so i rode it about 40 miles daily.
The bike's has had a loose choke cable for a while so maybe idling too rich for a period.
Also fill it up with premium unleaded usually 99 but from different petrol providers (haynes manual suggests minimum 91)
Had a service about 7 month ago i doubt they adjusted the valve timings though.
Oil has been changed recently and about every 6 months. Worth noting that the noise stopped for about a week after an oil change then started back up.
Any suggestions or Ideas of what could be causing the noise would be apreciated.
Cheers guys

Could be cam chain tensioner or clutch basket.
If it gets quieter with clutch held in per Rogerborg, likely clutch basket. If it makes a kind of rubbing noise when slowing down after a quick rev from idle, then could be CCT. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
