Hi all.
I bought a drz last week with a noisy engine so i've stripped it down to find the fault... Only thing i can find wrong is some marks on the exhaust cam journal (see pics)
With the ex cam in and locked down i can just about feel a slight up down movement when pulling on the sprocket side of cam...
The noise i'm talking about kind of sounds like a dry bearing. The crank bearings are fine and no play in the crank and both piston and barrel are in great shape (bikes only done 11000miles ).
Is this likely to be the cause of the noise ?
If so what's my best option to repair it ?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply..
So would you say its unusable as it is then?
Any idea on prices if it does need repaired?
There expensive engines and even a good uswd head is 300+ so id rather fix this one if needed. Im just trying to find out if this is likely to cause the noise im hearing.
There was also quite a loud tapping from top end but the valve clearances were way too tight and there was no exhaust gasket so i assumed most of the tapping was down to that. Wondering now if maybe the cam was rattling in the journal.
Thanks.
Dave.
