I counted the number of remotes I have knocking around in the lounge last night and there were 8!

So I'm now thinking of getting one of the Logitech Harmony universal remotes (probably the Elite as I want to control via wireless as well as IR).

Does anyone have any good or bad things to say about them?

Cheers.

I've had the (ancient now) 555 which was great, the 655 (I think) which was awful and now using the Ultimate which has proved to be great, hasn't misfired once in the month I've had it.

It has been easy to set up and customise, and the only gripe I have had so far is that I can't get the Alexa link to work, I can only pipe commands from Alexa through IFTTT to Harmony to change mode, but not control anything else. So been pleased with it so far...

also trusted reviews is ok

and most importantly real world reviews

I've got a 5 series too. Works well for all of my kit and was very easy to set up.

I have a Harmony Ultimate - in short, it's fantastic. I've had it for over three years now and it's been very reliable. (I had a Harmony 700 before this (the hub-free version) - which is still in use in my man cave)

Definitely get the Ultimate or Elite - the hub version is far more versatile than the IR-only versions (plus you don't need line-of-sight from the remote itself)
Fairly simple to set-up, it finds all but the most obscure AV items (and even then, you can usually get things hooked up by searching the Logitech forums and looking for solutions)

You can also use your phone to control the system (from anywhere) and it's compatible with Amazon's Echo ("Alexa, turn on the TV") - although this is limited to switching activities on or off, i.e. you can't adjust the volume via Alexa) - going further it can also control my Nest and my lights along with Smartthings integration - you can also program macros to do things (like turn on lights when you click pause, and so on)
Even at three years old, it's still receiving updates and it's still evolving.

Am almost certainly going to get the Elite.

I have the Echo and Hue lighting so definitely need the hub.

Bloody expensive though!

Think I'd rather tape all my remotes together into a huge block.

Well I must say I'm quite impressed.

It's very easy to setup - everything can be done via an app on your phone or tablet.

I quite quickly setup "Activities" (macros) to watch the freesat, watch blu-ray, watch firestick and control the lounge Hue light.

The activities turn all the relevant devices on and set the correct inputs.

Will add more activities and my Squeezeboxes tomorrow.

The remote itself feels a nice quality unit. Just the right weight and positive, but not clicky, buttons (which are backlit).

The touchscreen works well and everything on it is completely configurable.

Finally it looks like a universal remote that can replace all my others.

Still expensive but now I've used it I think its worth it.

I just have the three remotes held together like a giant Toblerone by three or four elastic bands, makes it harder for the child or the wife to 'missplace' it

used to never watch TV as I could never find the bloomin remote!
