This is Binge's fault.

I've always wanted to PIMP a mower, my electric one broke the other day and I noticed this pop up on eBay nearby and grabbed it, £20. Is a Suffolk Punch 35S (for sport Laughing ) my missus christened her Mable the mower.

The couple there looked to be clearing out a parents house. After getting the mower I asked to dive in their skip and came out with ramps and a trolley Cool I could have had more but there is only so much you can get in a Fiesta. Laughing

Everything seems to be there and it is in reasonable nick just neglected.

The tank looked clean so I chucked some fuel and and tried to start it. The fuel just pissed out the carb so I guess the float is stuck. I'll have a look over the weekend.

Plan is to get it running and then in the winter give it a snazzy paint job and racing stripes. Laughing

Dellorto, here it is!

It had been running without airfilter and was proper manky.

Heres the plug, Gap looks far too small.

Dumped it in the US Cleaner.

It worked wonders.

I've ordered a new plug, airfilter, and some gasket paper. so hopefully should be running at the weekend.

The carb has a sprung loaded drain, I'm not sure why. The seal on it is knackered I'm hoping to replace the seal with an o-ring otherwise I have to buy a new unit.

Im thinking of replacing the carb &/ or innards an go from there.

Sweet!

Whats the next plan, cassette sharpening?

I stripped my carb down last night, an have left it soaking in kerosene.

I think one of the passages is blocked, will try an have another go tonight

First I'm going to tweak it and get it running properly, then sort the controls out. At a minimum they need to be stripped and oiled, but I might replace them totally. I'm also going to look at the governor thing. There is a bloke nearby me that fixes them. I stopped in and had a chat with him he said it would sharpen it for £30.

I also need to replace the exhaust as it has been beaten up and is leaking. The bloke said he likely has a spare floating about that he would sell.

Binge used a pit bike carb on his, that seemed to run well.

I fitted a "cigar" exhaust from a briggs & stratton mower, a few plumbing fitting an it was good to go.

It quietened everything down a treat

£30 is a decent price for the cassette, remember you need the bottom blade doing aswell
