Six jet engines plus R&D costs?

As for the problems above, I imagine an important part of the suit would reinforced supports and end stops to prevent joints from going outside the comfort zone.
For the throttling, maybe some sort of mechanism to disperse the turbine exhaust to cut the thrust. Or an iris type design that moves plates so they can either be directly below the thrust to stop it and leaving vents open at the side, or be in a position to close the vents and allow the exhaust to flow fully. Would also allow full throttle takeoff (so aforementioned exoskeleton is a must) and to leave the turbines spooling at a comfortable rate for better fuel efficiency.

The turbines should not be anywhere near that cost off the shelf. Maybe a couple of thousand each brand new.

Not that much R&D, just practice time. Nothing smart that I can see like gyro stability. It looks to me that it flies entirely due to the skill of the operator.

If you can't control them with muscle power, then you're going to experience Rainpallian levels of fail anyway.

In the latest version much of the lift seems to come from two on his belt which will make it easier to stay upright than the earlier boot thrusters.
Definitely wouldn't want the wrong trousers on. Very Happy

Pretty ridiculous claiming it's the dawn of a new era in human flight - it's the sort of thing you might eventually see at a funfare along with mad mike's stunt show.

It does looks like it needs the muscle strength and control of one of those gymnastic ring dudes. And lots of money.

Rich gymnasts.

An exoskeleton with limits on movement and some dampers might make it more controllable. I'm picturing titanium tubes with Ohlins steering dampers.

Yup, the market for it is going to be pretty limited.

Briefly.

"I think it’s far less dangerous than driving a sports bike round country lanes." Shocked

“The timing’s not been great, between April Fool’s and Brexit, but I can absolutely tell you it’s real."
Brexit makes things less believable now? Thinking

The suit can currently fly uninterrupted for around 10 minutes, though it depends what you are doing with the thrusters.
Might settle the fuel argument.

More flight.

Shrieking intensifies: without the marketing music, that thing is nearly as loud as a Rainpal 1.0.
