I've had enough of messing with aluminium threads on the k100. So considering getting a torque wrench I've got £120 vouchers; which means not going to cost anything really.

So anyone rate them ?

whats the max torque you're going to be needing?

This will cover 2-24Nm, and is under £30. I have one and really rate it.

This is the one I use, it's actually made by Norbar so a decent bit of kit. Works very well and covers just about everything you need on a bike (except things like axles, which you just torque up to FT anyway).

I've got a couple of different torque wrenches including a Halfords Professional one I picked up a few years ago. I can't say anything bad about it to be honest, I've 'calibrated' it against others and it matches up fine.

Ive got one, but rarely use it. It stays in the topbox in case of breakdown generally.

I still feel better for having it there though.

I've got two sizes, as torque wrenches go, I really like them. Find someone with a trade card and then they are definitely worth the cash!

If you only need a torque wrench occasionally, here is a cheap alterntive. Put a spanner on the nut, and get hold of a fishermans scale. Hook the scale onto the free end of the spanner
to measure how much you are pulling the spanner. Now measure the distance from the center of the nut to the point where the hook is attached. Let us say it is six inches, or half a foot. suppose you need a torque of ten foot pounds. just pull the spanner until the scale reads 20 pounds. similar calculations apply to metric measurements. There is also the advantage that this method will work when you can only get an open ended spanner on the nut

Same myself, mine only lost efficacy when I accidently left it near max torque settings for days.

So don't be a dipshit like me and it should work well for years.

I have 2 torque wrenches 4-20Nm and 18-110 Nm both cost about £20 quid each off Amazon. 5 star rated not professional norbar which I used to use at work but decent. Small one is used most and the larger for wheel nut a about plus M12 bolts..

Cheers for the replies, going up to get the 3/8ths tomorrow; I was a bit too pre ocupied at the moment. It was mainly 6-30ftlbs that I need at the moment.
