Chav bling? Sure. But they do offer a way to help stop pitting of spokes if you haven't got stainless ones (I haven't). Idea would be to grease each spoke slightly before sliding the plastic sleeve on. They're piss-easy to fit, cheap - and needn't look stupid if you have just black ones.

However - after very nearly pulling the trigger on a set, a potential downside occurred to me. Would the plastic dull the twang when checking for loose spokes? It seems to me that a quick and easy process of checking the tightness of each spoke simply by plucking it and listening for a tight tone would become nearly impossible because of the deadening effect the plastic cover would create. Has anyone fitted these covers and if so, do they still let the spoke twang a note so you can hear how tight it is?

Spokey Dokeys to polish the spokes as they move up and down, rather than trapping water/muck in a clip-on tube. You know it makes sense.

Thanks a lot. Now I'm picturing you in them - and feeling frisky. So damn frisky.
