Hi guys I wonder if anyone can help as I know some of you guys can find stuff that I would have no idea how to even start looking for
I have the reg plate from my father in laws first vehicle pre 1950 and I want to try and find out what it came of and I can't ask him as he is no longer with us
it is RPV 774 now we know that the PV means it was registered in Ipswich but other than that we are stumped
I want to frame the plate with some info about the vehicle for my son who loves that sort of thing and became a mechanic because of his grandad
Cheers for any help and info you guys can dig up for me

No idea what extent their records are likely to cover for something like this; or whether its as applicable for a back-search on just the registration, but if you're struggling to get anywhere with other sources it might be worth a punt for a fiver to send off a V888 with a cover letter explaining the situation and include your father in law's previous addresses etc if available.

Not that the DVLA are often very helpful...

Ipswich Council might be worth a call too as they could of been involved with allocating registration information to traders at that point in time; although again, unsure how likely you are to get information, if they even have it.
