I think I can remember where I put the plate I took off when I switched to the Boyer, I'll be popping to the garage later so will have a measure for you.

Cheers for the measurement. I'm considering fitting an Enfield points plate to my MZ motor. I've been using Suzuki GT380 points for the last 20-odd years as a temporary fix because the MZ ones seemed to wear out quickly. Seemed like I was changing them about three or four times a year.

As a bodge I adapted (broke) the points cam fitting on the MZ crank so the cam could be rotated around to any point I wished and bodged some GT380 points to an old dead MZ electronic ignition sensor plate. The points are basically fixed at some sort of acceptable gap but I can adjust when they open by rotating the cam bolted onto the end of the crank. It's crude but it works. At least on my home-bodged ignition system the actual points gap is inconsequential so long as the timing is correct. I could have points with a five foot gap and they'd still work so long as they opened at the right time!

Another bodge I discovered that works well was running two condensers but that's another story. The Suzuki GT380 points have always worked great giving many years service at a time but it was never a very good fit and I always meant to fix it better someday.

A Harley points plate was another choice. The points look quite good but from the pictures I've seen it looked like the hole in the middle of the plate might be too small for my points cam and anyway it looked like they'd be operating with the cam rotating backwards. I don't think that would really make much difference but the Enfield points plate is cheaper.

You are entirely correct. When it arrives, you will say to yourself "Hell, this certainly is a cheap points plate!"... Or words to that effect.
