Wouldn't the battery power the ignition for a while? I got all the way home from Bournemouth to Bath with no charging system....

That was my hope, think I managed 3 miles until the dash just died.

Looking at the back of the rectifier it had blown the rectified side of it so 0 Volts on charge.

Hope they don't lead to any unintentional braking or loss of braking performance Whistle

Rear indicators swapped out for LED ones, which goes in hand with the indicator relay being swapped for one with an adjustable interval. HT copper silicone and decent Jubilee clips on the 'zorst flex. More swapping stainless in for rusted bolts.

Still need to look at the rear brake, no braking or light, but the front brake lights it up just fine.

Rode to OnYerBike with the daughter on pillion. Gutted my IPOD Puke stopped working while we were singing along to Disney songs and making a spectacle of ourselves but who cares Thumbs Up

The good thing is my TomTom rider has stopped going into demo mode. Dance!

I have no idea why!

Gave it a thorough wash, clean and polish, cleaned and lubed chain, wiped frame and engine over with a cloth dampened with WD40. Happiness is a shiny bike!
Got to take it in for a service on Wednesday aaaaaand.....oh bugger! Freezing temperatures expected between now and then; does this mean they'll plaster the roads with salt again? Shocked Crying or Very sad

Maybe in town will get away with it Praying

Had a closer look at the link pipe to see about cutting it down. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just lopping a few inches off with a hacksaw. It is the standard Yamaha link pipe, and about two inches from the can there is a bend, and also a small change in diameter quite close to the can. Oh well.

A truely thrilling afternoon buggering around to top the coolant up.

Not content with plonking the battery in such a way the tank needs removing to access it, Kawasaki have also hidden the coolant bottle away, even more inconveniently Brick Wall.

Pumped out (but not popped) my Striples calipers, gave them a good clean. Only did them last June.

Sliding pins on the RHS had gotten a bit rusty and the slide was jammed. Cleaned it up, works well now.

17k miles and still life left.

Adjusted rear brake pedal height.

Adjusted chain.

I read you'd sold the Striple. Had a good run and funds for trips Thumbs Up

I had visions of me keeping the SV forever, it did the commute so well, the rain well, runs to the tip and carrying bags of concrete, the shopping, trackdays as well as nipping to the coast to see my folks.

I figured I would just patch it and patch it. 2nd hand petrol tank etc, resprayed by hand. A bit of a ratbike, but mechanically sound.

Then it went bang and I completely lost interest.

A mate is having a bad time at home, needed a distraction in a garage away from the house.

The the SVBusa might live again. Just not by my hand / hammer.

cried.

went to look at sorting the blowing exhaust, got first stud out easy after some heat, quickly noticed that the 'collar' between the flange and the end of the pipe/head was completely corroded through on 1 side, whats worse is this corroded part seems to be specific to this exhaust (no longer made) and worse, would need to cut and have exhaust rewelded to replace the peice anyway.

joy.

So may need to replace the whole exhaust system, which will cost as much as I paid for the bike Laughing

going to try and take a punt at getting some pipe of the right diameter cut then split in half and see if I can use that in it's place as a collar

not directly on the bike, but I designed and 3D printed a sticky pad free gopro mount for my hipster helmet. Took it for a test at regular motorway speed and around town. I still have my gopro and all my teeth.

Over the weekend I borrowed my friends garage and pulled the sprag clutch to clean it as it had stopped working. Seems to be working right now well it starts and I've test ridden it. Only time will tell to see if the new seals hold.

Has he diagnosed what it was?

Did you ever find out yourself?

Or was it a case of

*SVBusa goes bang*

"Oh, well that's fucked now."

*Sells bike*
