Also don't get to cocksure, consider how much easier it would be to hacksaw through that spindly hanger rather than the chain.

If you can get it through the frame that's best.
Through a wheel they'd have to use a van.
Through the pegs, they can ride it away.

just buy this - https://www.screwfix.com/p/energer-enb465drh-4-8kg-sds-plus-hammer-drill-230-240v/63303

it will be more than capable of doing what you need, and probably not be much more than hiring a drill. will come in handy for other stuff. ive had mine for about 3 years and abused the fuck out of it. no issues so far.

Easy lads lets not forget how the mighty introduction to Arcane started.

We had a bike on it's side tied to a lampost with the oil being drained because of a steering lock, IIRC?

Let's not let him go freehand with a big tool bringing someone's house down.

I haven't been following but I can see where this is going.

Frank Spencer v2 at this rate.

Just because the chain looks strong it doesn't mean it is...

As others have said, spend as much money as possible on security. I have an Almax chain which is 19mm thick. I imagine the previous chain I had was of similar size to your current one, if not slightly thicker. However, after seeing the almax in the metal and picking it up, it totally dwarfed the other cheaper chain and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I also have an Abus disc lock which cost about £112.

Ironically: my motorbike and security saved that and my car from being stolen. Shocked Basically 2 chavs broke in to my car, then realised my bike was there- at this point I heard the cover being lifted and fondled. Thankfully I heard them at this point and looked out of the window so they scarpered. Although, to be fair, the muppets didn't even unclip the buckle of the cover underneath the bike.

Although I do think my bike, in this situation would have been safe. However I wouldn't risk using less security- you never know how far someone or some people will go to get their hands on your bike.

Never underestimate the lengths a thief will go to to get your stuff. Example; I recently built a new workshop and flattened my old garage meaning I had to remove my Torc II ground anchor from the concrete base. I didn't have a demolition drill to hand at the time so instead went at it the hard way with a railway crowbar (basically a huge version of a crowbar, very handy thing to have) Even though the bolts were properly resin bonded into 150mm of good quality concrete I managed to pop the anchor off (I had to chisel/SDS a lump out beside it to get the bar under) in no time. Granted that was a 17 stone gorilla bouncing up and down on a 6ft bar but the point is if I can do it with minimum fuss then so can a pikey or three.

A well motivated scumbag will destroy pretty much anything to get what they want. That's the line between what you think is difficult and what they do. Your own mental block is that you care about what would need to be wrecked, they don't.

My new setup is a lot more satisfactory, I shan't divulge too much on an open forum but suffice to say that particular method of removal is negated. Still not going to stop an angle grinder attack but you do everything you can to make it as much of a ballache as possible.

/Tef

you can get a cheap argos drill for less then hiring that one

extra bonus is if you break it you have already paid for it

if not you still have a drill

had my challenge one for a few years now

also got a battery one that I have successfully drilled the garage wall with

You won't regret investing in an SDS. The difference between a 'hammer drill' function for putting holes in concrete/bricks etc is immeasurable.

Though some may say that it's a decidedly half-arsed attempt to break into the market, apparently these days you can buy customised ground anchors that, would you believe, rather niftily complement one's Pride and Joy; to which end, have you tried Grrround Anchors of Somerset Ltd.?
