Yesterday, despite the chill wind,we headed out to Box Hill and once there, decided to head south via the twisties and then to Brighton for something to eat.

Then home via Newhaven,Seaford,Beachy Head then up to Halland and Kings Standing before splitting up at Halstead. Not sure how many miles, but it was 145 when the fuel light came on at Peacehaven near Newhaven.

I will be glad when it warms up more for that sort of rideout once again Rolling Eyes

Then having owned an XR250R for exactly 6 months, finally went onto the dirt.

Just a quick shakedown to see whats what. Initially felt like a fish out of water, but enjoyed it once thinking more like a mountain bike run.

Bluebells were out

Shakedown was good. Some things to tweak. Felt like a bit of a workout too Thumbs Up

Have updated the post with locations above pics, unless they are repeat pics of same lane. Thumbs Up

Green lanes, yet again.

Today I rode in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hetrfordshire and Essex

driest I've ever seen Essex, still found a few puddles we had to ride through though

Ventured a little further on my XR. Boxhill, Leith, Shere, Abinger, Wotton, Newlands Corner.

Not in that order. Got a bit lost. Helped out by some nice dog walkers who took pity on my incompetence.

Really enjoyed it, 3 hours and I was done in Smile

After getting the bike out only to find the battery flat at about 11am, bunged it on charge, and was pleasantly surprised to find it at 13v 2 hours later. So got in a nice ride before the new ice age begins tomorrow after all.

Gave the new sat nav its first shake down run on a ride with Copycat73 around the Lakes, all seemed to work fine, not too much of a challenge for me!
No pics, as I didn't take a camera - didn't want tech. overload Laughing

But did see 7 (yes, seven) McLarens up on the Kirkstone Pass: ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ!

And that was my first time along the eastern side of Coniston Lake; spotted a couple of possible shots for the camera, so will have to go back on a sunnier day. Bluebells were abundant in the woods, and that's one I haven't got for starters.

Unfortunately the bash plate is MIA. Was not in the bundle of bits that came with the bike.

Is it on one of your other bikes?

Had a ride through to some local pit stops in the Pennines and Dales (3 years since I last traveled to Hartside Shocked), been a long time since I've been out for a proper look on the bikes too, wish I could do things like this more often.

At Hartside

^^ Wish I'd taken my camera. That line-up of McLarens looked impressive; sounded good too, when they all drove off. Would have been interesting to talk to them a bit more. He said they were headed up to do the NC 500 later in the year - anyone for a race?! Twisted Evil

I had always wanted one, but was a bit disappointed when I finally got one. Bit of a heavy old tractor after more modern fare (which I suppose I should have expected), and I didn't click with it. The Z650 always looked a bit better, sleeker imo, and was nicer to ride. Interesting that the one in your shot is a modified LTD custom. Possibly it was cheaper than going for the genuine Z1, but looks even less sleek!

I saw one of these yesterday too, near Penrith/M6 junction on my way home - must've been a Mustang meet on somewhere. The one I saw was white with blue stripes down the side - had a bit of a hot-rodded look about it.

I might well be in for the same disappointment but I'm always open to the contrary (some bikes I've owned have certainly surprised despite their flaws), I was looking at the LTD simply because they go a chunk cheaper than the standards but can be re-fitted to look the part, I might still try a Z650 or even GS750 for my aircooled UJM kicks.

@Irn-Bru You know I was actually thinking at the time, 'bet some of those BCF lot are up here' Laughing

Popped to do the Picture Challenge and snapped this. Looking across the Menai Straits from Newborough with Caernarfon Castle in the background. Not the best of pics but it was a nice spot.

Rode my Honda 50cc 16 miles to a historical vehicle rally https://www.cavalcade.org.uk/ on Friday and rode it back home today.

Unfortunately the bash plate is MIA. Was not in the bundle of bits that came with the bike.

Is it on one of your other bikes?

I do not use a bashplate on my XR400SM.

This is how the XR looked after the chassis rebuild
