Spent a great day on Friday, rode the bike for over 8 hours and then suddenly it went crazy. Sometimes while I'm doing 80kmh in the middle of the street it shifts to neutral by itself. This is just the begining. I slowed down and shifted to second gear started to take a turn and right in the middle of it the bike shifted to neutral byitself! It was nice the back wheel slipped and the girls looked at me like a pro but the truth is I was gonna piss my self. After a while I stopped to make a phone call and got back on the bike only to find it wouldn't start Confused . After I waited 15minutes it worked but the bike felt weird, whenever I came off out of the traffic lights the bike would feel weird. It felt so weak and it wouldn't pull fast at the low revs. I had to release the clutch then hold it again to get it to move fast Confused . Next day I came to start it and it wouldn't start but this time it did a very weird sound. As if the engine was cracking or something, then I found petrol on my side fairings Rolling Eyes . Any idea what the hell is happening to my bike Sad ?

Just got a call from teh mechanic. Says the 2nd gear is busted. He suggested I sell the bike. It'll cost 500quid to get it repaired. But I spent alot on the bike, I mean I bought it for maybe 700quid and spent on it more than it's price. It's got a custom exhaust and a nice paint job. Any suggestions as what to do?? It's got 140K on the clock Rolling Eyes .

140k on the clock, furk, thats a lot for a high revving little 250.

Mashed gearbox, I reckon you should either take his price or take it back off him and just sell all the bits on ebay (but I bet its a bastard shipping stuff from where you live)

I say take the mechanics money.

Aren't you getting a gsxr6 anyway? Or am I confusing you with soemone else (as I usually do Confused)

Nope your right instigator, I intend on getting a gixxer in around august. To be honest I feel real stupid that it's not funny. When i bought the bike I thought it said 13k I didn't know they count the number in white, to my surprise it was 130K .. it's a 400 Laughing if it were a 250 it wouldn't last 10k! It's just that I like the bike you know "my first bike" I don't want to give her up. Although there is a 95zx9r that has 30k on the clock for around 1850 pounds.. but I think it's a little too big for me right now Rolling Eyes . Evil or Very Mad I feel like shit sorry.

I think anyone in your situation would feel like shit mate. Thumbs Down Evil or Very Mad

You could always get it done up and keep it, for nostalgia....but thats going to cost you. All comes down to how much you really want to keep it and for what purpose.

You can always buy another later on in the future...(?)

True mate, but I don't mean to act all cool and shit but I love riding. I love bikes more than anything. Before having a bike I would dream about them almost everynight. I feel real gay right now.. anyway. I love reading about them and mostly I love riding them. I was thinking of giving up uni and going to a racing school and doing crazy things. I ride the bike for really long times. Sometimes more than 12hours straight (well a small petrol stop or to get some food). Plus I just ordered some alpinestars gear and I have an arai helmet which is real expensive and I have problems with my parents now I feel like they won't be getting me the bike. Rolling Eyes .

If they won't get you the bike maybe it's worth spending the 500 on it. It's all down to how much you love your bike... I'm going to have to spend a fair whack on mine this year, getting the valves done, new exhaust etc but I love the bke so I'll do it. (Might put a ZZR600 engine in it next year).

Maybe it's worth getting a 2nd hand gear box and whack a 600cc engine in it, if it'll fit.
