I don't need to carry a lot of gear
1 Canon EOS 600 with a standard 18 - 55
1 optional 100 - 300 lens
polar and IR filter and doesn't need to be camera specific just usable on a run of 2 - 300 miles
my current one is way too big as its meant to carry a laptop so the camera and lens bounce around

I don't plan on carrying anything else its just to get pic's when I'm out on runs
only issue may be I plan on getting leathers with a hump soon so may restrict options
I know we have a few photographers on here so what do you use

I don't, on the bike. Two separate things to me.

Anyhow, while I can't recommend something I want to input the following whereby bags can be had, at random, for cheap-er prices:

https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/used-equipment/used-accessories/used-photo-and-video-accessories/used-bags-cases-and-straps/

.. Alternatives available.

My recommendation has nothing to do with cheap or expensive I'm simply providing a link whereby a potential product that someone may want can had for much less monies all because it's been used and someone doesn't want it anymore. Someone parting with their money can make an informed decision for themselves.

I could plant a seed of doubt and say in the same way you won't use a "cheap" bag for fear of something you don't mention happening what then would happen if you crashed while transporting camera equipment on the bike?

Right.

My point being how are you so against and not ok with buying a used version of what you're going to the shop and paying more for and then being ok with potentially crashing and having to claim for all your gear?

Also how is recommending buying a "cheap-er" not "cheap", note the difference, camera bag any worse a suggestion than the gear you've told me about from Cex and Cash converters?

Small tankbag, with shoulderstrap accessory?

I never understand the general reluctance amongst bikers to attach luggage to the bike rather than the rider

I looked at that option but as my tank is plastic I can't use a magnetic one
and I like to get my chin down on the tank and a back box on a CBR RR is like putting a roof rack on a Ferrari Thumbs Up

I have this bag which will hold a Canon 5D with 2 or 3 lenses. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000YA33DC
What I like about it is the zip is on the back so it simply cannot be imagined to be working open.
Also good security if among other people.
Having said that I rarely take it on the bike because it's not something you'd want to quickly stop and take a couple of shots.
If you can somehow fit camera in the tankbag that's much better or just give up with bike/SLR concept and buy a good compact for not much more than a good bag. (Canon S100 here)

I have the same problem with tankbags now due to plastic tank of stupid shape which makes it almost impossible to use one.

I use one with a tank-ring adapter (it's a Givi job), which works really well. It seems very secure, and anyways also has a safety strap which clips round the handlebar. Mind you, unlike the OP, my chin never gets anywhere near the tank (I don't think I even bend that far any more...)
