Been with PlusNet for years and years and years (probably well over 10), they're OK. Very occasional problems, you do have to escalate every ticket though as they assume the auto list of "things to try" has worked. We can't see any reason to change, even since BT bought them.

To change to Plusnet you have to have a standard BT line so before I can move to Plusnet I need to get rid of my BT Basic line and get a normal landline. But to get a normal BT landline involves signing up to a 12 month contract despite the fact I only want one for the purpose of immediately leaving BT. Brick Wall

After much being transferred between different departments / people it's hopefully sorted so I'm not tied into a 12 month contract.

Thats sounds rather iffy as Plusnet actually offered me a free line . . .

Presumably you didn't already have a phone line and weren't trying to change service provider?

Fuck BT, I'm currently paying them a fiver line rental each month but this still works out cheaper. CBA with hassling them to price match, blah blah blah, job done. Mr. Green

where did you get the cashback from?

Plusnet are going into mobile sims - running on ee but with very competitive tariff - 4gb of data + unlimited minutes and unlimited texts for £10 a month.
It looks like this is only introductory and it will normally be £15 but still quite good I thought. Register in advance and you get unspecified further deal - possibly allowed to punch that idiot in picture*

https://www.plusnetmobile.com/

Won't be getting it here though as we have no service from any of them and it's hard to use £10 a year on PAYG. Rolling Eyes

*We'll be offering you a special offer called Mates Rates which will give you double the data on all the standard plans (pre-registration offer is not included). Watch your inbox for more info on this! Sleeping

Plusnet has been dropping packets for the past EIGHT HOURS, along with a wobbly email server for 34days.

I didn't get in contact with them until today to let them know my BT line is now a normal BT line.

"The order for your phone line to be activated is due to complete on 08/12/16. We now have all the details needed in order to place a simultaneous broadband order.

This means that we should be able to get your broadband service working within 48 hours of your phone line being activated.

These types of orders can fail on occasion. If this is the case and the broadband service is not active within this time frame please contact us so we can re-submit your order. This will then take a further 10 – 12 working days to complete. "

I wonder how that will go. Praying

Switch over happened today. Woke up at 6:30 with no internet and then at around 10:30 had internet again from Plusnet. Before leaving the house I configured the router with the new username and password and it connected automatically once Plusnet activated my service.

So far no drama and getting the same speed as before which is what I expected. Also, went online right after activation and added an static IP which took effect right away (after restarting the router)

Being switched over to Plusnet today was straight forward and painless. BT Infinity internet when I went to bed last night and Plusnet internet went I got up this morning.

The speed is what it should be, ten out of ten, would buy again.

Thumbs Up

Okay fellow Plusnet customers, I received their email today telling me that from the end of June the price is increasing by a whole one pound!! Shocked

They also say that "if you do decide to leave because of these changes, we won't apply any early termination charge" so it looks like it's time to find another ISP. Laughing

I think the current front runner is EE Broadband as they want £28.50 per month for 18 months which is the same price as Plusnet will be once the £1 price increase is applied but topcashback are offering £125 for new EE Broadband customers. https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ee-home-broadband/

£32 for connection and router delivery which means after cashback it works out at £23.33 a month.

Other BCF Plusnet customers are also leaving in protest of their £1 price increase? Very Happy

(there's no point in phoning them up to try and haggle the price, it's much simpler to just take the £125 cashback for switching to EE)

Wouldn't touch EE with a barge pole.

Lass in work with me recently went with them, well tried to. For 6 weeks they assured her that her router had been dispatched and would be with her tomorrow. They also took the start-up fee from her account several times during this process, and IIRC, the fitting "engineer"'s fee, who also never arrived. She eventually told them to stuff it and had to go to the bank on the Direct Debit guarantee in order to get her money back as they wouldn't refund.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Or three times.

You can use EE deals to beat BT down on price. I got them to £10 p/m for unlimited infinity 1 from £22 originally, and their absolute best price of £15 Rolling Eyes

BT are offering:

52Mbps
Unlimited downloads
£29/month including line rental
£60 up front
12 month contract
£200 prepaid gift card.

so £29x12 + £60 = £420, -£200 = £220.

£220/12 = £18.3

Which isn't too bad.

I'll be glad to get rid of the shit plusnet router too. When I'm sat in my kitchen I can pick up 7 BT and a TalkTalk router yet not my plusnet one, which is 8ft away through a brick wall.

My nearest neighbour is 30ft away Laughing

Plusnet Update, Had issues back in April with noise and BB drop outs, as per their tick list the phone has to be sorted before BB,
So 3 engineers later they claim as they can no longer find a fault they will close the ticket, I ask about the BB drop outs, "we know nothing" it`s at the top of the ticket I have messaged in, so I get another engineer yesterday who cant find anything but the numbers are borderline, no idea what that means even after asking,
So this engineer wants to escalate it to a Reins team, to look, Plusnet are again trying to stop it as it costs them money every visit and a fair bit for this different team,

As I am typing the message to them my phone flashes, so I pick up the handset and it is a dead line, on a line Open reach say is ok, so I inc this and I get the message back . . . . . . we need to send a line engineer then . . . so tomorrow morning I have half a day off "again" for an engineer who will come out and not find a thing and walk away, as we already know it needs a Reins engineer ahhhhhhh,

Don`t even mention their Mobile arm of pain, porting a number takes a day or so, 14 days later I now havent got a working old or new number . . . you cant make this shit up.

Oh and I forgot to mention the fraudulent charges they have been taking for the line tests they carry out . . . Any Plusnet customers who have had any issues check other numbers, the 123 number is them making calls on your line, how can anyone be able to make a call that results in you having to make payment, from a phone other then one at the address on the bill . . remote cash cow.

Doesn't mean you get the same service. I was with o2 when Sky took them over, and they must have put everyone on the peasant service cos it was 0.2-0.3mb for months (having been ~3mb under o2).
