Hi guys.

I have just replaced my throttle bodies as the housing on my old set cracked. On the first ride out as I changed into 2nd gear my 'FI' light lit up for just a second and then my idle jumped up to 4k or so. Also when this happens, I have no engine braking at all. Its like cruise control. Rolled into my street and turned off and I also have green liquid (coolant?) dripping pretty quick out of one of the overflow hoses at the bottom.

I also replaced one of the throttle cables whilst doing the throttle bodies, but these seem free and 'snap' back to closed as they should. The throttle butterflys look closed so I dont think the cable is snagged or anything.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Im pretty sure I installed the new throttle bodies correctly but this new problem might suggest otherwise. Im really at a loss as to what is causing this - I also have video but its not very clear so not that helpful. I initially thought that there might be an idle adjuster but that wouldnt explain the FI light and the 'switch' to high idle.

There's a way to read the stored FI codes, which should help. I think running it with the sidestand down, or shorting some connector pins on your bike. Did you move / change the throttle position sensor? Also the cables are one for open and other for close, if not adjusted properly you'll be running as if the throttle was cracked open.

Depending on year you may also have a mechanical idle adjuster.

Yeah, I only replaced one of the cables but its all fine that end. Whilst I had the airbox and tank off I made sure that it was all as it should be. I will have a look into the code reading thing, I dont know how to do that but Im sure google holds the answer. I think I may have changed the throttle position sensor, as the fuel rail/throttle bodies came with all the sensors attached so I (stupidly) used the ones that came on it. Im tempted to take it all off and replace all the sensors etc with the old ones that I know definitely work.

Its an 06.

Check connections as the IAT might be loose, causing it to think the temperature is minus 20 and high idle is necessary.
