My sister just had a bike-jacking talk with me, I do think this is one of those situations where the fear of crime outweighs the chances of it happening *touch wood*. I've had a few ped bois eyeball me at lights (I usually stare back Wub) but that's it.

Never had a hint of a theft *caresses wood* despite the bike living in my back garden on a dodgy council estate, although it spends the day in an underground car park at work. If it was parked on street I'd probably be a bit more paranoid, and probably wouldn't have got a Johnny 5 Striple Very Happy

Do you often caress your wood after talking to your sister? Thinking

The consideration for me goes beyond time or even the parking costs. It's that I get in ~50 minutes of recreation every day.

Me neither; and I'm not even going to go as far as skim reading Teffers' posts to find out.

The final clarification for teflon is that I have about 30 minutes of walking each way at present which is very savable time. If I get back home earlier then I get to take my son to football training which helps to offset stress.

I learned to ride for the commute. 90 minutes each way went down to 50 on the bike. Saved me well over an hour a day and parking or train fare on top. Probably offset the DAS and bike cost over enough time.

I had secure underground parking at the office. Served me well for years. I learned to hate winter though.

I no longer commute into Mega City One so my bike is a toy. Best toy I own.

Start for practical reasons, yes, but you'll love it too.

If you're commuting daily you'll be wanting waterproofs. Good ones. 2 sets, really, one on top of the other - it runs down the tank, pools in the crotch and leaks through. Sadly familiar feeling for me, now.

Ah, not so far up the road. If you want a ride out once you're sorted, let me know and I'll show you the local lanes.
