I plan to have another attempt at painting my track tart GSXR400 over winter. Last time the main issue i had was reactions on the tank (going to get blasted to bare metal this time) and the fact that the acrylic lacquer was neither high gloss or petrol proof despite the claims on the tin.

If i can get a good finish with acrylic rattle cans, can i finish with a 2k lacquer aerosol without worrying about it reacting with the acrylic paint underneath?

The only way to be sure is to do some testing.

I needed to put some gold lines on the tank of my Sunbeam and the first attempt led to the stuff just washing off with petrol. I ended up trying all sorts of combinations on a spare chunk of steel till I found one that was (a) compatible with each other and (b) petrol resistant (I actually found the Halfords stuff OK if left for several weeks although I wouldn't immerse it in fuel).
