Ok so two things.

Apparently round here bugs and insects wear body armour. These bugs that are hitting the screen on my tracer are scratching the heck out of it.

It crossed my mind as to whether people put any sort of protective film/wrap on their screens? Granted it wont protect against stone chips, but may make it last longer? Or just stop being so precious about it.

Also, those that own a Tracer know that the foot peg guards wear horribly, (see image). Does anyone know of some sort of cover / carbon wrap that could cover that and look half decent?

I do the odd bit of vinyl wrapping on cars/interiors and recently done my little CG125, so have some experience in wrapping

I actually recently wrapped the fog lights of my Civic in Yellow (not to everyones taste, but i like it) and i was surprised how thick the transparent wrap actually was

Personally i would think this would be great against stone chips/wear too, assuming you can get it in clear

Just looked, and yes you can

It's really quite easy to apply too, all you really need is a heat gun (hairdryer might do the job) and some sort of squeegee (ideally with a felt covered edge to avoid scratching the relatively soft vinyl

Oh, and just to keep it on topic, here are a few pics of my bike with carbon fibre wrapped fairings and mudguard Wink

This is normal wear and tear, I'd expect to see it on a motorcycle which is being used regularly.

It's heavier wear than you'd get elsewhere so instead of normal vinyl wrap, I'd use heavy duty helicopter tape.

Yes, you could wrap your screen with clear protective film. The edges will look a bit messy whatever you use. I'd suggest you stop it just short.

From experience, use 3M wrap products or go home.

Alternatively, you can buy a new screen from china for less than £25.

EDIT: You could try wiping the screen over with a UV protectant product such as armourall or aerospace 303 (use one of the two, the 303 is the better one IMO). In fact, if you're being precious about the bike, using this on any exposed, unpainted plastics (clock surrounds, dash, fork protectors etc) will prevent them fading, yellowing or cracking in the sunlight. I use it on my canoes and it brings them up like new.
