|
A few years off the grid but now I'm back on the forums.....
Just a quick one:
I haven't had a bike for nearly 3 years and as such, believe that my No Claims that I spent years racking up have now expired!
Is anyone aware of a bike insurer who will honour this and maybe provide a discount in lieu of the claims expiring? |

Allegedly they're hot on claims history now*, might be because I was F&T and claiming off the other person I didn't need to provide proof, maybe it was an oversight.
*couple of years ago I declared an unsettled claim as non-fault, ended up going split liability as well |

Nice, I guess it shows sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask. The rest of the time don't ask don't tell |

Until you need to make a claim and need to send them the ncb proof. At which point, they'll tell you to fornicate off.
Worth remembering if the value of the bike is such that you might want to claim if the worst happens. |
They will tell you to fuck off. We are adults here, you can say it. FUCK.
As for the value of the bike, irrelevant if your on TPO. If the worst happens your dead anyway. Lets face it, we mostly buy insurance purely to keep ourselves from being arrested or something. Who here can honestly say they buy insurance purely for "should the worst happen"? Life doesnt live that way, hence insurance needs to be a legal requirement.
It doesnt work out anymore expensive to cover your own losses yourself in the long run. By claiming, insurance premiums will rise substantially so I heard. Given how much vehicles depreciate, the likelihood of payout and the amount you will be paid, I believe its cheaper to just not claim.
Like casinos, if it was beneficial to get money off insurance, then insurance would not be a viable business, they need to make a profit somehow. They are still cunts tho. ____________________ Some say that he is the sole survivor of Atlantis, and that he refused to speed test a new Hayabusa this morning simply because there was no milk for his Brexit. When you're an adult, you understand the difference between being able to do or say something, and HAVING to do or say it.

I'm waiting with baited breath to hear your explanation as to how it would have been cheaper for me to cover the total loss of a 16 thousand pound motorcycle myself, rather than claiming for it through my insurance.
Just in case you can't be bothered to do the maths, even if my premium increased by £200 per year as a result (which it hasn't) and stayed that way for the rest of my life (which it wouldn't), it would take 80 years until it I'm saving money by not claiming

I'm genuinely unsure what your point is old chum.
If you're saying that you have to say fuck at every opportunity if you don't have an expensive bike, then I've really got no answer for that I'm afraid. If you're saying that it is not worth claiming on insurance unless you have a new expensive bike, then how about this as a more modest example...
Your £5k (value, not what you paid for it) bike has just been written off. Is it cheaper to:
A) Chuck it in the bin and move on, spend £5k from your savings on a replacement.
Or,
B) Claim against the premium that you've paid good money for to replace the bike.
If you go for option B, maybe your premium will increase a bit.
If it increases by £100 per year for the rest of your life (which it wont) It will be 50 years until you've reached the point whereby it would have been cheaper to just replace it yourself.
Bit of a no brainer really. ____________________ Current bike - 2018 H2-SX, 2004 SV1000s, 2016 Aprilia RSV4 RF, 2017 Sherco SERF 300, 2003 Suzuki DRZ400 (stolen - AY53 JUU) |
