You need fork oil in it because that sounds like it's completely leaked out over time. So you require new fork seals and bushels with new fork oil except the fork spring(s) may needed inspected to make sure they don't let the forks dive down to far..

It can be a messy job and the fork oil has to be of a certain volume inside and if it's to high then it can possibly leak pass the fork seals or if it's to low then it will be the same as mentioned in the 1st paragragh.

So get the correct fork oil as noted in your manual for your bike and replace the fork seals & bushels with new ones rather trying to use the old ones because the old ones are probably leaking anyway !

P.S. You shouldn't have rested it back down on it's forks as you might have gone and damaged some other part of the bike or it could have landed on you !

If it's an Aprilia RS125 that your talking about and think you'll like this site as you can download user manuals and a workshop service manual pus other things of interest too.

Or just put it all back together and it will be fine. Small capacity bikes ahve one sprung leg and one damper leg...

Yep, as Cagiva geezer said. The rs125 has a spring in only one leg, so will not work well on it's own, but when coupled with the other fork it should work as normal.

Hi

Yes, perfectly normal for an RS125 fork.

All the best

Here's a link to download your user's maintenance manual just in case you don't have one;

Excellent thanks a lot. I was unsure why only one leg had a spring in it. Thanks for clearing that up.
