Are positive breed traits media constructs as well?

No they are generally the constructs of the owners.

I was recently reading a book about dogs in the armed forces from the 1900's onwards and it included a passage on the Germans use of dogs. The Germans inbetween WW1 and WW2 concluded that Airdale terriers had a 34% suitability for Army use, that Dobermans and Boxers had a 33% suitability and the surprising one was that German Shepards only had a 22% suitability.
As Nazi Germany couldn't use anything other than a German breed, pride etc and the Fuhrer owned a German Shepard called Blondi they became the defacto military dog.

Not many people would consider a Airdale as a better Military/service dog than a German Shepard and yet it seems they were and yet no owner would ever believe it.

An Airdale is the only dog that has ever attacked me, happened when I was a courier after the owner opened a door letting it out as it was fine with people. A punch in the face as it was attached to my arm soon calmed it down much to the disgust of its owner. I pointed out better a punch in the face than a vet with a needle.

I think you mean Airedale. I'm surprised your book never had the correct spelling in it.
HTH cupcake. Thumbs Up

Good to see you're still regularly wrong and predicatably fail to recognise it and prefer to argue the toss.
If I was at all bothered about being mocked for having piles I wouldn't have posted on here about it would I?
Do your worst, I've heard them all. Stay in denial petal, it amuses me almost as much as your loose grasp
on English.

By the way, it's German Shepherd, not shepard.

So you're wrong YET again whilst trying to appear all knowledgeable. 3rd time in one thread. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Airehead.(sp) Rolling Eyes Next book you read, really ought to be one of these.
Clue - It won't have many pretty pictures of doggies in it.

And I was mocking you for being wrong, wrong and wrong. And you really don't like being called on it.
Methinks you have the sore bottom. I know a good surgeon if you need a hand with that. Thumbs Up

Just an observation. Frustrating that the only advice and suggestions that the OP has responded to are the ones that support and validate her choice, and has ignored the majority that suggest that it is a bad idea.

Mainly, I was looking for an excuse to post that picture.

Lol.
Long story short, got staff, came from chavsville but was well behaved. The wife reacted to the hair pretty badly so we passed her on and got a westie which is getting on great.
Staffs in a better place so all's well. Shame, such a great temperament and a cuddly bitch. Would love to have kept her Sad

Sounds like a treadmill for that pup.

That's why we passed her on asap when it became clear the allergies would be unmanageable.

Staffs now with a nice couple 15 mins away, saw them last week (gave him a large centrifugal pond filer) and they're getting on very well. Staff is getting on great with the neighbours but appears to be growing exponentially Shocked!.

Might be going down next week as there's a strong dog presence in their area and a regular group of 20 odd people who all 'do walkies' together. Would be nice to see my two pup's get in on some of that action as well Laughing
