Yes, used to own one. Its quite easy on flat water once you get the hang of it. I sold it though as I didn't get the time to make the most of it.

Yep, I spent an hour falling off and climbing back on the board. It was pretty fun actually but I was hopeless at it.

I really struggled staying upright

Instructor gal, stuck a bit more air into the board which helped.

My mrs wants to get a board but looking on eBay, O'shea boards seem pricey

i picked it up a month ago - have been kayaking for several years which helps with the paddle use and understanding the effects of putting a paddle in the water - just had to learn how to balance!

went in the sea yesterday - coping with waves trying to go from kneeling to standing is a whole new kettle of fish - and it definitely helps to keep a) the board moving, and b) a paddle in the water as much as possible for support.

very enjoyable and love being out on my board!

p.s. if you think o'shea boards are expensive - i bought a red paddle board!

A blow up board Confused This does not compute.

How can it be a board (solid) if you can blow it up? It sounds like one of those big bananas.

Inflatable SUPs are surprisingly solid for what is essentially a bag of wind that rolls up into the size of a large backpack. I wasn't aware of them when I had a go on one, it wasn't until 10 minutes later I noticed the plug at the back and asked what it was. A bit thicker than the normal ones but a smal price to pay for the convenience.

mine needs 20 PSI to be at optimum rigidity - hurts when you get hit in the head by one too!
