I'm a tad confused Laughing

I put new pads on the rear of the fz6 last week and i checked them yesterday and they're severely worn down already, the caliper appears to move pretty freely, can push the piston in by hand fine.

Tested for rubbing by riding into work today without touching the rear brake and the disc is cool to the touch so no excessive rubbing (my mpg has actually increased since i cleaned the brakes and put the new pads in)

are the pads just rubbish/faulty?

Brenta sintered HH pads

Could you be unintentionally riding the rear brake? Check your foot position.

Had already thought of this and adjusted the pedal slightly out of easy reach and made a point of having my foot back so zero chance of accidentally touching the pedal

Brenta is the problem. Buddy of mine had some as fronts on his cbf and they wore down so fast he almost ran them to the plate.

Use another brand. Where did you get yours? They may be fakes

bought them from wemoto, reckon i'll get back in touch with them, I can't see any reason for them to have worn down to 4mm in the space of 2 weeks, the pads these replaced certainly didn't....

holy crap, rode the bike today and checked them when i got home and they're down to about 1mm, again, disc not hot to the touch. I've put the nearly worn old ones back on as they now have more meat left on them.

not the first item i've had fail in rapid time from wemoto tbh, i bought these pads using credit from a clutch cable that failed within a month

are they wearing evenly?

I noticed my month old Brenta sintered HH bads on the rear have worn, but only on the piston side. I suspect I have been riding the rear brake just enough to gently push that pad on the disc, but not enough to bring the other one in.

That or unintentionally riding the brake evenly seem the most obvious causes.

My mate got his from wemoto too. It's not them. I trust wemoto and theyve not failed me yet on a part I needed. They're just shit pads and is why they're cheap...he went to EBC as I told him to and he has been fine since

they weren't cheap....they're only 3 quid cheaper than the EBC pads...and more than twice what my last pads were (which were cheapies but lasted somewhat longer than 5 days of commuting that these have lasted)

I would say bad pads if the old ones you have put back in don't wear as quickly.

That is stupidly bad wear. Even to wear down from inadvertently operating the brake would have the disc glowing to get that sort of wear on a good pad.

Unless your disc holes are somehow shaving the brake pad material off?

That's a pity. I seem to remember 2 sets for the front being half the price compared to ebc.

My rear pads have done near 10k and have life left. They're ebc hh. Get those

Laughing fairly sure.

At least wemoto have good CS, already had a response, sent pics over and should be sorting replacements.

TBH I have a lot of faith in weemoto. They are consistently a tad more expensive than the cheapest options of flea bay but I've not had any problems with anything yet.

That and order in the morning and often I've had it the next day!

That's a mind-boggling rate of wear! Shocked

Different brand this time?

This is an odd one indeed, i had ebc fitted and they wore quickly too, so fitted some brenta pads like you and they were great.

maybe a faulty batch of pads

Usually I find if a brake is binding, it wears one pad more than the other. Not always the case but often.

Aye, these wore perfectly evenly which makes it more odd.

They've already dispatched a replacement pair but didn't ask if i wanted the same or not so they've sent brenta hh pads it seems, hopefully this set are fine.

Will be giving the brake a haul over the weekend anyway before I fit them to make sure all is good...and keep a close eye on them.

soooo....received the replacements (direct replacements, different batch number)

guess what....gone in a week again...this is after completely rebuilding my rear caliper, again disc isn't hot to the touch after a ride.

Decided either something seriously shitty with the brenta pads or my disc is fooked.

Got some cheap as hell kyoto pads to do a comparison with the brentas...3 days in and the kyotos have pretty much not worn at all.. i'll take pics at end of the week of the two sets to compare

Contacted wemoto again who are crediting me the cost and raising issue with brenta, did a side by side test same miles/route with the brenta and a set of Kyoto pads, the brenta pads were nearly down to the bone after 5 days, the Kyoto have next to no wear on them

That's pretty shocking.

I went through a set of EBC pads in under 2000 miles, and I'm not a heavy braker.

Other people swear by them though.

My working theory is that every fecker is just randomly slapping pads together and not caring about consistent quality control.
