Washed an 18 day accumulation of baked-on bugs and filth off. I think some of the bugs might now be intrinsic parts of the paintwork Shocked

Spark plugs and oil, at last.

Local museum phoned.. they want the spark plugs for their BSA back.

The two that are more rusted than the others are the inside ones, don't dare start to think how long it's been since someone's been at them, if ever, since fitted.

https://s12.postimg.org/s2ytit6kt/image.jpg

[[BORG]] - Found a steel washer attached to sump plug when I got it removed, turns out I wasn't so lucky. Took me leg pushing against the wall pulling on the 3/8 ratchet as much as I dare to get it to crack.. and thankfully it went my way and all came out, phew. Replaced with a copper washer, as pictured. Hopefully the gap between the bolt (is right?) and the washer won't be an issue, ran it on the stand and no leakage, woop.

https://s15.postimg.org/ysrbnfutn/image.jpg

Going to have to commit the sin of using the next commute as the test ride because turned into mush after being out in the heat most the day. Did do a short run after doing the plugs, before the oil, but forgot to pump the tyres up.. forgot how noticeable a few PSI drop is, oops.

Engine oil over the: path, exhaust and some on the side case but other than that not bad for a first attempt, providing nothing blows up next time I go for a run.

Thumbs Up

Ragged it round town, lech'd (dunno) at the crumpet, basically behaved like a spotty yoof, much noise and other antisocial behaviour.

Visited 3 bike dealers, none of whom had what I wanted (for tomorrow if possible - not possible Rolling Eyes ). Told a VFR rider outside a Honda dealer he should get a Yamaha, told the Honda dealership if they'd been a Yamaha dealer, they'd have had what I wanted (the Yam dealer didn't have what I wanted).

The Yam dealer has a gorgeous bit o' stuff working there - pity she's clueless Rolling Eyes

Funny what a bit of sunshine does to ya Laughing

Oh I don't know, plenty of life in them yet. Thinking

Posting them to the long lost land where all the parts go to cry after they got away with "yes mate, been serviced before left the shop" but latter was found by unsuspecting owner.

Finished the cleaning job, topped up the oil (overfilled it and had to drain some again Rolling Eyes ); used about 300ml on the Euro tour. Then went for a ride around the Lake District.

I traded it in and got a 'Ninja' (I hate that, it's not a sports bike) 300 with only 91 miles on it.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/philr46/20170624_125237_zpskgdciaxe.jpg

Every few months my CBR was developing a new problem so it was time to say goodbye, I wanted something recent and a 300 was the best I could afford.

It needs running in but first impressions are positive, it'll be a fun little thing once I can go/stay above 6000 RPM. I think they look really cool too.

Found the front valve has a leak. Changing it at a mates house tomorrow (Compressor and Tyre levers), sorting needle float, exhaust clamps and a random O-Ring I found missing. Then, I'll go for a ride.

Aforementioned front valve, an o-ring to stop an inspection cover leaking (I'm not convinced it'll stay there, backed it up with PTFE), realised M&P have sent me the wrong fucking pads... again...

Also made up cardboard patterns for side trim to go around the seat. Debated fucking off the airbox and putting a cone filter on it, not decided yet. Tidied up yet more wiring.

Started pissing it down so abandoned carb work, she'll run until next weekend.

Oh no no no, that won't do at all.
Where's all the pissing and moaning and buying of tools you'll never use again etc.
Where's all the drama?

Disappointed.

Decided that my downpipes needed a proper good clean.

So, armed with this

https://s29.postimg.org/svyh44blz/IMG-20170626-_WA0014.jpg

I cracked on with cleaning them. Looking good so far!

https://s2.postimg.org/wrfgjsljd/IMG-20170626-_WA0019.jpg

This stuff works amazingly well!

After 30 mins, they've come up beautifully, probably thanks to the hydrochloric acid.

Did you use a scouring pad with the Harpic or wire wool?

Neither, just brushed it on with a paintbrush, agitated some bits, left it for 10 mins and washed it off.

took the 900r in for its MOT as well as its maiden voyage with me (never ridden a gpz900 before). It got it 4 months ago and its taken a fair bit of time and expense to get it this far..

It failed. The barsterwarde fuel tap decided MOT day was the day it wanted to start leaking fuel outside, not just inside the engine like they usually do.

New one ordered and should be able to get a free re-test so not all bad.

No advisories Cool so once the fuel tap is on it has a completely clean sheet. The last MOT sheet was very very long
