just brought a pit bike which hasn't run for a couple of years. i changed the oil, spark plug, i cleaned the carb and put new jets in. it starts up if you hold the accelerator down and then rev it but won't idle. white smoke comes out of the exhaust and petrol comes from the carb hole on the right and out of the back. any ideas?

The carb is flooding, clean it out, remove the float and valve, make sure the valve and seat aren't clagged with crud, also check the float pin holes are round, not oval.

White smoke sounds like too much oil, how old is the bike? It may want new crank seals, hard or perished ones will let the gearbox oil into the crank - worn mains will also let oil pass
