Have your say on London transport plans

Remind the London mayor that motorcycles are the best way of transport for commuters.Cycling is good but people outside London will commute better on motorcycle.

and my reply:

How are you responding to this consultation?
In what capacity are you responding to this consultation?
As an individual

About our survey
Do you want to continue with our survey?
Yes
The challenge
1) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the correct challenges have been identified?
Strongly disagree
Please provide any comments on the challenges outlined in the strategy, and describe any others you think should be considered.
Comments:
Commuters are left completely out of the challenges. There are millions of people that do not live, but work in London. They provide growth and services. You
forgot about that challenge completely.
It is completely unrealistic to say that yuo can resolve this challenge by using walkinng or say cycling. There are reality physocal constraints here - like I cannot
walk cycle 60 miles one way to work each day.
The solutions you are proposing may be good if you live in London, but do not help if you commute.
Not to mention that if London encourages out of London commuting this will take strain out of London housing.
The vision
2) To what extent do you support or oppose this proposed vision and central aim?
Strongly oppose
3) To what extent do you agree or disagree with the proposed aims?
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - By 2041, for all Londoners to do at least the 20 minutes of active travel they need to
stay healthy each day:
Partially agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - For no one to be killed in, or by, a London bus by 2030, and for deaths and serious
injuries from all road collisions to be eliminated from our streets by 2041:
Strongly agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - for all buses to be zero emission by 2037, for all new road vehicles driven in London
to be zero emission by 2040, and for London’s entire transport system to be zero emission by 2050:
Strongly agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - by 2041, to reduce traffic volumes by about 6 million vehicle kilometres per day,
including reductions in freight traffic at peak times, to help keep streets operating efficiently for essential business and the public:
Partially agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - To open Crossrail 2 by 2033:
Partially agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - To create a London suburban metro by the late 2020s, with suburban rail services
being devolved to the Mayor:
Partially agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - To improve the overall accessibility of the transport system including, by 2041,
halving the average additional time taken to make a public transport journey on the step-free network compared to the full network:
Strongly agree
To what extent do you support or oppose the proposed aims? - To apply the principles of good growth:
Strongly agree
4) Please let us know if you have any comments you would like to make on the aims of the strategy.

The Vision does not handle two main issues:
First it talks about Londoners only.
Commuters to London that only work there are left completely out. There are millions of people that do not live, but work in London. They provide growth and
services. You forgot about that challenge completely.
It is completely unrealistic to say that you can resolve this challenge by using walkinng or say cycling. There are reality physocal constraints here - like I cannot

Not to mention that if London encourages out of London commuting this will take strain out of London housing.
The second omision is motorcycling. Motorcycling is a good solution for reducing congestion even better than cycling. You fail to plan for encouraging
motorcycling. It is unrealistic to cycle 60 miles one way each day to work to London. It is very efficient to do that with motorcycle.Reducing congestion by
motrcycling and making the trips faster will have great effect on reducing polution too.
You must include motorcycling as one of the very efficient way of transport and reducing pollution, not to mention the worst and the most harmful polution is from
diesel vehicles and motorcycles are petrol based.
Healthy Streets and healthy people
5) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 46 to 58) would improve the
experience of pedestrians and cyclists using London’s streets?
Partially disagree
6) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 62 to 67) would reduce road danger?
Strongly disagree
7) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 86 to 103) would reduce emissions
from road and rail transport, and other sources, to help London become a zero carbon city?
Partially disagree
8) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 70 to 78) would tackle congestion and
improve the efficiency of streets for essential traffic, including freight?
Strongly disagree
9) To what extent do you agree or disagree with the Mayor’s proposed approach (see pages 81 to 83) to road user charging (such as
amending current schemes to ensure they remain effective and exploring new schemes that reflect factors such as distance travelled, time
taken or emissions produced)?
Neither agree nor disagree
10) Please provide any comments you would like to make on the policies and proposals set out in ‘Healthy Streets and healthy people’ and
please describe any other measures you think should be included.

There are two major problems in proposed solution:
1. Safety - current cycle lanes aka cycle superhighways that has been created have severely restricted the road. This makes travel in London by motorcycle very
unsafe and have increased the road danger.Whatever you find a solution that does not harm other traffic users. For example in Germany cycle lanes are separate
from the roads. Also make the use of cycle lanes obligatory otherwise cyclist just do not use them.
2.Emissions - by creating cycle lanes that restrict the road you actually are making impossible to use motorcycle efficiently.Means you discourage people to
motorcycle to work.Which increase the polution - the worst and the most harmful polution is from diesel vehicles and motorcycles are petrol based.
A good public transport experience
11) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 118 to 119) would provide an
attractive whole journey experience that would make onward journeys by walking, cycling and public transport as straightforward as a trip
by car?
Partially disagree
12) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 121 to 125) would ensure public
transport is affordable and customer service is improved?
Partially agree
13) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 127 to 129) would improve the
accessibility of the transport system?
Strongly disagree
14) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 133 to 137) would transform the bus
network to ensure it offers faster, more reliable, travel where it is needed?
Partially agree
15) To what extent do agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 140 to 166) would improve rail services
by improving journey times and tackling crowding?
Partially agree

New homes and jobs
17) To what extent do you agree or disagree that the Mayor’s draft policies and proposals (see pages 193 to 246) would ensure that
transport supports the development of new homes and jobs so that current and future Londoners become less dependent on their cars to
get around?
Partially agree
18) Please provide any comments you would like to make on the policies and proposals set out in ‘New homes and jobs’ and please
describe any other measures you think should be included.
Comments:
London is already overcowded. the Mayor should think about commuters too - the people the live outside M25 and commute to work in London. It is completely
unrealistic to say that People should be able to live in areas where many of the places they want to go are within walking and cycling distance.
London is a business hub. Many large companies have their HQ there and many people that do not live in London travel to work each day there. The same is valid
for many government offices and agencies. And for many science and education institutions.
The point is majority of the people live outside of London and commute.
You completely fail to recognise that fact.

20) We have commissioned an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) on the draft Mayor’s Transport Strategy. The IIA evaluates the social,
economic, environmental, health, community safety and equality consequences of the MTS's proposed policies in order to ensure they are
fully considered and addressed. The IIA has assessed the draft MTS as a whole; detailed assessment of specific schemes will be
undertaken at a more appropriate level, such as assessment of Local Implementation Plans (LIPs) or at planning consent stage (where
applicable).

Yes you have completely missed to identify the impact of motorcycling.
