Just had to have a new front tyre put on as it was on its way out.
As they pulled the front calipers off, the pad material fell out.
So new pads as well as a tyre now.
I would have done the pads myself at home, but needed the tyre putting as borrowing the bike to a mate for his mod 1 on Friday.

Now they cleaned the piston from the outside, but when they tried to rotate it was seized in place, as seen by myself.
They advised that it would need a full caliper rebuild which would take a couple of hours cleaning and replacing seals, or they could just do a get me home fix for me to sort it out later, but they wouldn't be responsible if they locked up due to the new pads. I went for the latter as I was late back to work from lunch, and I am quite confident I could do it myself.

When working on cars I have just pushed the piston back into the caliper after cleaning without removing it. I have not really had a problem with a seized piston before.

Anyone had the brakes lock up where they haven't cleaned the calipers out? The bike is a commuter and lives outside all the time.
I've ordered some seals but wont get to me till the weekend. I can strip and clean the pistons and current seals, but as its an old bike I foresee an issue re-assembling the caliper.

Also having a misfire when its raining. I have come to the conclusion that its the HT lead on cylinder 1, as I can feel the spark through my glove if I remove it from the engine, no engine note change once removed.

I have ordered some copper wire to make some new leads.
My question is currently, the spark plug cap screws into the HT lead but I cant see any copper wire there. Should I be able to see some copper wire for the screw to go into? Would it be beneficial to cut a bit of lead off the end and screw the cap into the copper wire?

caps deffo screw onto the lead.

my leads were all green when i removed the caps. could try trimming the HT leads down, but i found mine to be quite short.

Brake rebuilds are easy on a Bandit
