My 2001 Deauville when from normal to reserve, it then spluttered to a stop then would not restart until fuel was added.

Any ideas?

Dirt/rust in the tank? The Reserve position of the tap sucks fuel from the very bottom of the tank, where all the heavier dirt and rust particles sit. Thinking

I would take the tank off, and clean it. Thumbs Up

If it's a petcock to switch it then strip it down and check the 'reserve' position. I've had one where it did the same thing and it was gummed up inside.

Likely the fuel pump is dead. Replace the points and you'll be good to go.

Keep the old one and replace the points. Costs about £20 and takes about 30 minutes.

I have changed the Pump with an Ebay pattern £23 delivered, all working well.

I have stripped the old Pump to check the points and I could say what points, they were that bad. I will keep the old one and consider new points should I need to replace again.
