Try getting replys to emails or your calls answered by engineering specialists, or custom one off parts manufacturers.
I swear they get to a stage where they only want so many customers, and usually repeat business and often only from people that are well known in motorsports or competition circles. |
Ive had a small part for the spacker away being powder coated for over 3 weeks. I called after 2 weeks and they
hadn't even started on it yet. Must chase that later today.
This thread reminds me of my first attempt at buying an Er6f. I walked into Bath Road Motorcycles with
4 grand cash in my pocket a few days after passing my test. I was looking at a 2008 Er6f he'd had there for some time.
I made a bee line to the bike I wanted to buy, walked round and round it for a good 5 mins in full view of the sales staff.
Then calmly walked out again, got in my wifes car and drove away.
As soon as I arrived home I shot them off an email about how I was stood in their shop 20 minutes ago, clearly looking at a
specific bike, with £4000 literally in my pocket and a "I must buy a bike RIGHT NOOOOOOW!" look on my face,
(I even sent a pic of the pile of cash on my kitchen table) and how they let me walk out again without so much
as a "Can I help you?". I got a snivelling reply offering their sincerest apologies and promising their very best attention
if I wanted to return to look at the bike again. Being a man of principle, I of course invited them to 'get lost'.
Ended up buying an as new 13 plate with 1500 miles on the clock via an ebay auction for the same price as their 2008
with 17k and a dented tank. Did me a favour in the long run, but it pissed me off at the time. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I expect that every staff member was so genuinely busy with their jobs that they couldn't find 2 minutes to reply, even at their own convenience.
It had nothing to do with them being lazy or incompetent or disinterested or contemptuous, or that they'd rather banter or take smoke breaks, or do pretty much anything except doing what they're ostensibly being paid for.
Sure of it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Working at a bike dealership would be a good job if it wasn't for those pesky customers. I mean, what is it they want?! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

If anyone perseveres with this sort of behaviour and ends up going back in, begging them to take your money - you're worse than them. |
Yeah, you tell 'em! Leave us alone!
Nah, as OP found, there are good and bad salesmen, and good and bad shops. I was never a very good salesman, but not because I was indifferent; more that I didn't want to sell shit (parts/clothing/accessories in my case), so was sometimes guilty of not pushing things enough with some of the bosses I worked for. Guess I empathised with the customers too much ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Local Beta place is very nice and helpful.
It probably helps that the staff own the business and compete in enduros and trials on the same bikes that they sell.
But, yeah, I've had the same in the past when buying motorcycles.
Dealer apathy is the reason I traveled further afield to by bikes, and I've had the cash to buy a bike right there and then and been ignored more than once. |

I assumed they thought another mug will be along shortly, then you see the closed down sign in the window |
