I've never riden a bigger bike in the rain so do I need to modify my speed whilst on test or just allow for a bigger space in front of me . All help and advice gratefully received.

They will only let you do the test if you have a RainPal® on your helmet. Although in a storm they do advise ThunderBuddy.

Thumbs Up

Driving a motorcycle in some places is so dangerous by the time you have read from the start of this sentence to here 2 people will have died in a traffic accident on a motorbike.

Sounds like you're massively overthinking and under-prepared.

Go get some sleep and crack on with turning up prepared to do your test as planned. The decisions out of your hands so you'll know if its cancelled when the time comes.

Questions you ask concern me. There's a difference between perhaps being scared or thinking there's an art to handling a bigger cc bike in the wet that there's not and genuinely not knowing how to ride in such conditions.

Enjoy, either way. Thumbs Up

Never consciously ridden a big bike differently in the wet, just the usual stuff of being careful with manhole covers, white lines etc.

Don't worry Dave it might even be easier if they make allowances for your 'extra nerves' due to the weather.

You get bonus points for dodging lightning bolts too, I think they allow you up to 16 points on your license if you manage that Smile

Don't sweat it. Are you going to pull in and sit it out every time it rains?

I did my mod 1 in a blazing heatwave followed by mod 2 in the shitting rain. I won't say I love riding in torrential rain but I certainly don't mind, all tucked up in my waterproofs in a world of my own. I know plenty of bikers that shit their pants if it even drizzles. Just be gentle with the power and don't underestimate how slippy road markings and manhole covers etc are when wet.

Entirely depends on your local DVSA Derek. They might follow in a car.

Leave yourself longer braking distances and brake earlier, and take it slow on roundabouts, but otherwise get up to speed sharpish. Crawling along is likely to start racking up undue hesitation faults.

Heavy rain does a great job of clearing the roads of all the accumulated oily slop, I look forward to it.

I was sweating my ass off in my waterproofs through wickford but thankfully the rain held off.

I got 5 minors including 2 for undue hesitation, which I thought was a bit harsh but no complaints. I just treated it as a fun ride paying extra attention to roundabout and speed limit signs.

I just need to get a bike, insurance and security chain in time for the weekend now.

If you're going to ride through Wickford often you better get a 12 bore and shotgun holster Very Happy

Congrats on the pass!

This seems to be a Thing now, it's the most common minor people report.

None of which matter, of course, it's just DVSA Derek being grumpy. Enjoy your victory.

Probably grumpy because of a learner being hesitant.

I failed because of that. I still feel hard done by. I have no idea how he came to that conclusion. But whatever. Well done OP. Have fun on your new wheels.
