i am about to purchase a 1985 tzr 250, but i want to change the head fairing into the latest tzr 50 or r6 or r1 looky likey fairing,
how would i go about doing this, which is most likely to fit? is the tzr 50 fairing going to be to small? will the r6 be to big? how would i attach the new fairing brackets? bearing in mind i am very new to this sorta thing,
thanks very much in advance

Hi

You have put me in an awkward position. Put it this way, if you do replace the fairing then I want your original indicators! And fairings.

However it will be a fair amount of work. Chances are that you would have to modify an R6 bracket to fit. Fitting the side fairings would be probably mean making up some brackets (very unlikely the mounts are anywhere close).

Added to which, not sure the TZR charging system would be up to running twin headlights.

While possible I would doubt it is an easy job.

Think the TZR50 fairing would be far too small.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Depends on how standard looking you want it. Would be fairly easy to bodge on some cheap aftermarket indicators and an LED rear light.

To be honest though, is it worth it. That looks like an very nice stock early TZR. Anything you do to it will reduce its value and cost a load. It would be cheaper to just buy an Aprilia RS250 instead and have something faster, better handling and more modern.

All the best

Keith

why do you want to change it?

It looks beautiful as it is, in excellent condition.

Surely its more fun beating Corsa Chavs off the lights on a bike which looks like its from the eighties?

I think any fairing you might care to fit would be too big.

Hi,

I have just bought a tzr 50 (1995) Japanese import! The front fairing panels are missing and to bring it back to standard, I am going to buy some more! However I can only find 1990 fairings but I was just wondering if they would fit it or not? Or has anybody else got any ideas or any I could purchase off them?
Thanks
