I'm sure this has been asked here before somewhere, but why are so many photos posted on BCF stetched out, like the one below I just posted? Is there a way of fixing this?

At 2448x3264 pixels that picture is far too big really and the forum software does a crude job of making it fit without distorting the layout.
If you can resize to about 800 pixels longest side it will fit and display as uploaded.
You could add a link to larger size but no real need for that example.

Ah I see, thanks a lot. Seems to me though that distorting the layout of oversized pics is exactly what the forum's software is doing!

Looks normal to me too.

I think the problem's at your end.

What browser?

Does zooming in or out make a difference? (ctrl and + or ctrl and - to zoom. ctrl and 0 to reset).

Do you mean the image in my OP here appears normal to you, or are you just looking at Doggone's repost above?

Chrome; no, zooming in and out doesn't affect it - the image is elongated horizontally. I see it quite often with other folks' posted pics here

Interestingly. Now I'm on a different PC, it's deformed.

Your original looked fine on a windows 7 PC running forefox. It looks deformed on a linux PC running firefox and chrome.

For interest, this is the image you originally posted.

EDIT: Still elongated on the linux box BUT if I zoom in so the width of the image hits the page boundry (So I have to hit ctrl and + about three times), the ratio fixes itself.

Hmm... that trick also works for me here (Windows 7 + Chrome). Also just the same using Avast's SafeZone browser.
Weird.
