Hi I am trying to change the swingarm on my NSR 125 as the old one is rusted and I bought a new one from ebay for £20. Now Ive removed the large nut of the left hand side of the swingarm pivot but the bolt still wont move on the other side, There Looks to be like a castellated bolt over the top of it? Is this the case and if so how do I remove it?
The other problem is I am missing a bolt on the very underside of the engine and it is seeping gearbox oil very slowly, maybe one drop a day, Would replacing the bolt be enough or is it a gasket job? Does anybody know what size of bolt to ask for? Thanks for your help it is appreciated
Chris

Hi

If you tighten the bolt a bit then it might fix the leak, just do not tighten it too much. Depends where it is leaking from. It it is from betweeen the cranksae halves then I would ignore it, but if it is from the clutch cover gasket then it would be easy to replace.

For the swinging arm I would have to check in the manual. However the NSR swinging arm is alloy I think so will not rust, so do you mean an NS125?

All the best

Keith

If it is an NSR, there is a castellated nut on the bolt, just use a hammer and screwdriver to tap it round and undo it.

it is a 2001 nsr 125 and beleive me it rusts lol, caused mainly by my crap paddock stand. Your are right about the castellated bolt however I will give that a go.
New developments on the leak front:
Ive searched high and low and cant find anything too obvious, so i thought maybe the bottom end gasket was gone, I'm really hoping this is not the case.
However tonight after cleaning the crap from all of the casing i a small possible trail to what I beleive is the oil pump? On my NSR it is roughly heart shaped? It is the box above the water pump case and has two tubes into it? Once i opened it there was a small pool of the same oil in the base of the casing and I noticed there was no gasket for this "oil pump case"

So I have a few questions, should there be a small amount of oil inside this case? Should there be a gasket for this? How can I fix it all?

Hi

There should be no gasket on that cover, nor any oil.

What colour is the oil that has leaked? Does it match the colour of the gearbox oil or of the 2 stroke oil?

It could be 2 stroke oil leaking from the pump, or a pipe to / from the pump. It could also be gearbox oil escaping from around the pump.

All the best

Keith

Hi

If it is gearbox oil then I would suspect there is a seal behind the pump that is leaking, or missing. I would expect to find a rubber O ring there.

All the best

ok located the leak. it is coming from the left hand tube going into the oil pump, the larger tube. down where it meets the brass cube oil is seeping out. i tried squeezing the crude circlip thing that hold it in place but to no avail. anyone got any ideas?

Cut a little bit off the end of the tube and pinch the circlip up a bit with pliers.
