From 3,766 officers in 2007 to just 2,643 in 2017.

Sure, if you view speeding or paperwork offences as the priority.

I'ma facetweet this on the way home.

Ah, you got an "agree", instead of "interesting", but I'm sure you'll cope.

At those numbers I'm surprised I ever see a traffic cop nowadays but they're often there, parked on the bridge over the A34 - where it becomes a 50mph limit near Oxford, clocking speeders. Meanwhile we all follow dueling trucks doing 25mph up the hills, through the area which is clearly signposted as no overtaking for HGVs.

45 forces = about 59 per force. With shifts, sickies, training and court attendances, I'd be surprised if as many as 10 per force were actually on duty at any given time.

I think we're expected to grass: https://www.itv.com/news/2017-07-11/dashcam-footage-shows-driver-being-distracted-football/

'A new reporting form on the police website means members of the public can now submit dashcam footage if they suspect wrong-doing'.

Typical, less of them about and I got gotted last night on the motorway by one of her majesty's finest.

Mind you, I only got a speeding ticket. The other bloke who got pulled over at the same time was left answering questions about his lack of insurance and name on the V5. I left him and the rozzer in the plain car discussing it on the hard shoulder.

To top it all, when I got to work this morning I was asked if I was interested in going to some Blue Light Services Conference (whatever that is) and they wanted £350 to attend.

And younger. I sat next to one a few weeks ago who couldn't have been more than 14 and he said he was a detective inspector.

My late mum said they would look younger when I was properly old.
