Negotiated a 20% pay rise and bagged an unused GTX1070 for £100. Was a very good Friday.

I'll tell you what oiled my gears yesterday.
Only a very. Minor thing, but old Peppers was happy.

I did a minor repair/maintenance on my Chinese pos and everything went smoothly without any issues.
You have to understand that this is a very rare thing for old Peppers Smile .

Normally when I do maintenance/repairs, I end up with ALL of my tools out on the drive and half the contents of the garage, but not yesterday Smile .

All manner of dogs walking in the little park at Tanner Street, but people make such a fuss of Orville. No idea why. He's a waggy little bugger, though. Cute As.

Only got him til Monday, so am making the most of him, taking him about the place with me, going to the Ace Caff tomorrow for Ladies Day, as well.

Brought him round to my house to meet our cats (he lives with a cat anyway), and apart from eating all the cat food in the bowls and an initial spate of barking at each cat as they came in (and being told off for his sins) - he's been alright. They've all calmed down and warily walk around the other side of the room, whereas he is mostly ignoring them.

Dennis is still a bit moody and growly, but she probably feels a bit more vulnerable, having only three legs, fair play.

I had a lovely day at the Ace Cafe on Sunday with MCW, Paddy and Mad Liz Wub

We took Orville with us, and he was fussed over by an assortment of ladies (it was "Ladies Day" at the Ace, although disappointingly there were not as many ladies as I had hoped, mind you I was hardly helping, having not ridden there myself on account of having taken Orville!)

So not only were we so busy nagging, cackling like the three witches of MacBeth, and scoffing breakfasts, I dunno how Paddy coped with us Laughing

There's a Ladies Day?!?! Only other ladies I've yet seen whilst out riding have been pillions. Sad

They've had one for a few years now, not sure how long they've been running it, but then I'm spasmodic in my event attendance, at best.

That's next once the scoot is fixed and she's had a chance to get some more time in the saddle. I'm off to do my
first advanced assessment ride tomorrow. Should be a good 5 or 6 hours out and about. Shocked I'm keen to hear where
I can improve what I am doing so am quite looking forward to it in a strange kind of way.

Today I took four cablecars up to the top of the Schilthorn in Switzerland, absolutely stunning view of other mountains including the Eiger and in the very distance (if you squinted) Mont Blanc. The air was so fresh and it was amazing seeing a glaciated landscape first hand with actual glaciers still there.

Top day!

Just seen that the deadline for PPI claims approaches. Excellent, an end to those annoying adverts for ten bob 'solicitors' trying to get in on the act....
Not sure what 'Dave' telly channel will do for advertising revenue without the same three or four companies supplying what s is ms to be most of their commercial breaks though.

Free runner beans, one of the houses round here had a big tray with them bundled up and a note saying please help yourself, so I took one bundle as I was walking the dog tonight.

Earlier today, as I was cycling home a couple of workmen sat in the park eating their lunch, and one of them asked me for a light, I don't smoke. As I live just a few yards from the park, I cycled back and gave him an old disposable lighter

So I'm now a lighter lighter and full of beans.

Rhubarb.
Was recently given a chunk of it, on a spade, from a plant that has been with a family that has cultivated it since 1914, when the father went to, but didn't come back from, the first world war. It's probably a lot older than that.

( I know this ain't the best time to transplant rhubarb, but the old girl whose garden it belongs in has been forced to sell her house so she can end her days in a "care home")
